There are two different types of store shelving.
Double-sided store shelves are also called “aisle shelves.” They run vertically through your store, creating passageways for shoppers to browse. They are also much easier to move around than are single-sided shelves placed back to back, so you can rearrange your store after Christmas for New Year’s sales events with relatively little effort and downtime.

Single- sided shelves are better used for wall shelves and end caps. The basic horizontal measurement for single-sided display store shelves is 48”, making them ideal stand alone units for convenience store corners or empty spaces on the wall that are not currently earning you any money (but are costing you rent per square foot). Creatively converting unused wall space puts an extra punch in your sales by giving you more room to show more products at once. Also, the compact size of single sided store shelves allows you to create end caps for special promotions and your hottest merchandise.

The size and positioning of store shelves plays a pivotal role in keeping your customers honest. Our experience in retail supply has taught us over time that the PERFECT height for an aisle shelf is 72-84 inches. Anything more presents an obstruction to visibility. You don’t need store shelves to be all that tall anyway. Each individual shelf can hold up to 350 pounds and can be moved up or down within the display. Each shelf can also be adjusted to anywhere from 12” to 22” in depth so that lighting is evenly distributed throughout the entirety of your display.
