Gondola Shelves and Shelving

How important is gondola shelving to merchandising?
It can be the key to your merchandising success. Proper positioning of your shelving in conjunction with proper lighting helps you better display your best products and showcase your hottest items on sales.

Investing now in new gondola shelves can get your store ready for the Christmas season and give you a winning competitive edge over other stores in your area. The key to doing this right is to work with a space planning expert like your account manager at Easy Rack. A professional who is knowledgeable in retail layouts can show you how to do more with your existing space than you may think currently possible, and how to combine different types of gondola retail shelves to create more effective layouts and displays.

How many different types of gondola shelves are there?
There are many different heights and shelving depths, but really only two category types of gondola shelves. The first is double sided gondola shelving, also known as aisle shelving, which runs vertically through your floor plan and creates aisles for shoppers to walk through.

The other type of used gondola shelving is single-sided wall shelving, which also has a very useful dual function as an end-cap shelf if you want to bring certain items on special into a central position of prominence for people walking in through the main entrance.

Can these shelves be customized?
The individual shelves themselves are units of a fixed horizontal and vertical size and a variable shelf depth. However, the combinations you can create with these individual display shelf units are endless. Easy Rack will help you customize any order to maximize your exact space management requirements. Simple gives us some floor plans or digital photos of your store and we will get started today.

People steal from me a lot. What type of gondola shelves do you have that can help me?
You need units that will allow your managers, employees, and security equipment to see over into the aisle beyond and monitor customer activity. We have found that the best shelving heights are 72” if you do not have cameras and possibly 84” if you have mirrors on the corner ceilings and surveillance cameras in key locations. Anything higher than this creates blind spots that are too tempting for some people to remain honest.

Do you have any gondola shelving that comes in decorative colors?
Yes. We have a wide range of colors which complement the general decorative layouts of the full gamut of retailer types. We have almond, black, caramel, beige, light beige, and gray, just to name a few.

How large are the individual shelves themselves?
They can be as short as 12” and as long as 22”. Generally, most shelves support an average weight capacity of approximately 350 lbs.

Easy Rack carries a wide variety of used pallet racks, commercial shelving, material handling equipment, commercial lighting, and modular prefab buildings installed nationwide.

Used Display Shelving Racks

What types of used display shelves do you carry?
There are two main categories of display shelving. There is a double-sided shelf, also known as aisle shelving or used gondola shelving, which is arranged in rows with shelves extending outward on either side. The other type of display shelving is one-sided, or wall shelving. This type of display shelf is used to turn empty wall space into merchandising space. It is most valuable to small pawn shops, convenience stores, local hardware stores, small drug stores, and records stores because it makes the most of every square inch and places important merchandise on eye level with browsing shoppers.

What colors can I buy used display shelving in?
You can buy used display shelving in any number of colors, including gray, almond, black, caramel, light beige, and beige. The most popular color is almond, but this is solely a matter of subjective preference.

What sizes are available?
Display shelving ranges in vertical height from 48” to 84”. We recommend that you use purchase used display shelves standing no more 84” high. This gives you plenty of room to stock your products and still leaves you with enough room to look over the tops of the shelving for loss prevention monitoring.

What horizontal widths are available?
We sell all used display shelves built to a standard 48” width. This provides a common measurement around which to build a space management plan.

How much weight can these shelves hold?
An individual shelves can typically hold 350lbs in weight. Multiple shelves can be adjusted to create a “staggering” of depth from top to bottom. This lets more light shine onto lower shelves and prevents shadows from obscuring your products.

What are the most important benefits we can expect?
With the right combination of aisle and wall shelving, you can use display shelves in virtually any open space in your store. Easy Rack will help you customize a merchandising floor plan that will make the most of your empty walls and unused square footage on the ground. Just send your account manager any of pictures or blueprints of your store. We will help you plan out your new display setup and fill in the products based on the best application we can develop for your location.

Masonry Equipment & Concrete Supplies

When is special masonry equipment needed on a job site?
Anytime you are constructing a building consisting of 65% brick or more. Even if the entirety of the building itself is made from other materials, you may still need, heavy duty masonry equipment if portions of the blue print call for brick walls or basements.

What is the least expensive form of scaffolding to use?
Veneer scaffolding is much less expensive than standard scaffolds and will perform quite well for smaller wall and basement construction. Veneer scaffolds weigh 35lbs or less and are made with single-piece construction that requires no assembly. They stand on adjustable legs that allow you to stand them up on either a flat or a sloping surface to creating a stable and safe two-level work platforms for all of your masonry equipment, tools, and supplies.

What is the quickest way to move bricks around on a site?
We recommend using brick carts that are made with special forks that allow them to grab stacks of brick at a time. Workers have said that it often takes them less than 1/3 the amount of time to spot brick around a construction site using a construction work cart than it does with other masonry equipment

What other specialized masonry equipment do you have in stock?
Forklifts can move mortar around in mortar tubs, then store and stack the tubs at the end of the day. If forklifts cannot access the part of the wall your crew is working on, you can substitute on or more mortar buggies that will do the same thing. If your crew is standing at heights over 4.5 or 5”, you consider plaster and masonry stands that will elevate equipment and tools so workers do not have to bend down to reach them.

Is there such a thing as heavier duty masonry equipment?
In a sense you could classify crane forks as heavier duty crane attachments. These special forks are designed to pick up banded blocks and brick pallets and balance them on a steady center of gravity. You may need to use crane forks rather than brick carts if your crew is working on a very large wall or if you are moving heavy block.

Does Easy Rack sell masonry equipment in packages or by special application?
We can. We would need to know some basic details of your project, the number of workers involved, your project safety requirements, and your anticipated deadline. Call a material handling specialist today if you are interested in this and we can recommend a solution very quickly after a brief, free consultation.

Heavy Duty Truck Loading Ramps

Shipping yards and construction sites that do not have permanent docks need another method of loading up truck trailers. Truck loading ramps are excellent tools for this. You can use them to safely and quickly load up any truck no matter where you are, because they function exactly like concrete loading ramps on permanent docks—they can both forklifts and workers on foot with pallet jacks.

Different sizes of truck loading ramps exist for a wide range of applications. They are made from either steel or aluminum, but some frame loading dock ramps have steel grating on the surface for extra strength. Both steel and aluminum offer different advantages. Determining whether or not you need steel or aluminum depends on many factors such as necessary weight capacity and the amount of portability you will require. If you have any questions about which material is best for you application, and Easy Rack specialist can help you.

Steel Truck Loading Ramps
Steel ramps will service a range between 45” to 62” and can b operated by a 2 speed hand crank. Weight capacitance ranges between 15,000lbs to 30,000lbs. The most commonly used steel truck loading ramp and ramps lengths are 30’ and 36’ lengths, both of which include a number of built in safety features that include positive steel traction grating, 4” high safety curbs, safety locking chains, rubber bumpers, on overlap lip of 15”, and optional welded hand rails.

Aluminum Truck Loading Ramps
Aluminum truck loading ramps can be ordered in 30ft straight incline or 36ft. incline with 6ft. level off. Weight capacities range from 16,000 lbs to 30,000 lbs. They are simple and safe units to use thanks to a number of beneficial features. A single worker can adjust the height with a hydraulic hand pump. The ramp is stabilized by rubber shock absorbers. Fork truck can move the ramp around the shipping yard by hooking up to an optional tow bar that you can have ordered with the unit. Every aluminum ramp comes with safety anchor chains, and custom steel grating can be fitted to the ramp if necessary.

Mobility
Many different tire types, including pneumatic tires, can be fitted to truck loading ramp. OSHA and ANSI call for all loading ramps to be attached to the truck with bolt locking chains prior to use. They can also be fitted with toe bars to allow forklifts to move them. In other instances, different accessories may need to be added to the ramp to allow a variety of vehicles to move it around the yard. These include loading dock levelers, towbar hitches, loops, and forklift pickup slots that we can install upon request.

Heavy Duty Industrial Pallet Racks

Industrial used pallet racks allow you to support the largest containers and pieces of equipment. Unlike other types of racking systems, industrial used pallet racks have steel decks instead of wire decks. This is because they support the heaviest of materials and need to be able to support up to 48,000 pounds in weight safely.

Industrial used pallet racking are vital ingredients for recession-proofing your company. The most important benefit they bring to you is the exponential expansion of your existing warehouse space. This is especially advantageous if you are storing very heavy equipment storage. You may be using your warehouse floor to store the most bulky and heavy of items simply because the concrete provides the most reliable support. Industrial used pallet racks and pallet racking give you an equivalent and much more efficient alternative. Their heavy-duty steel decking provides a sturdy, elevated platform that is easy to access and safe for employees to work around. This will really improve your inventory control and your time to market as well. With faster access to materials stored on used industrial pallet racks, your workers can store and retrieve items much more quickly and efficiently. If they get in a hurry, donʼt worry. The structural steel components these racks are made from make them highly resistant to occasional forklift impacts, so you can count on the unit If things get really busy and crews get in a bit of a hurry, industrial used pallet racks are built to withstand an occasional bump from a forklift during a busy time.

You can find industrial pallet racks in all designs, including the most popular design, the boltless teardrop style. The boltless design offers two main advantages over bolted equivalents: ease of assembly and a more even distribution of weight. In spite of steel plating and structural steel supports, you can assemble your warehouse rack yourself by snapping the components together without clips, bolts, or tools. The finished product is much more stable and durable because it has no small components that can buckle or pop under the stress of heavy loads.

Even though industrial used pallet racks and racking are easy to assemble, we recommend you get help from a material handling specialist in designing the storage systemʼs specifications. Every new or used pallet storage rack system (and most used pallet racks as well) are custom designed storage units that are intended to fit the exact dimensions of a warehouse floor, vertical cube, industry type, and storage content. These factors play a very critical role in determining the strength of the components we will later use to build your rack, so be sure to share this information with the specialist that is designing your system.

Industrial pallet warehouse racks systems can also be made for outdoor use in inclement weather and cold climates. If you have a remote construction site or shipping yard with heavy duty storage needs, talk to a material handling specialist at Easy Rack and we will design a system specifically for that location.

Aluminum Loading Dock Ramps

It may be unrealistic for you to install a permanent loading dock in your facility due to the current recession. A more economical alternative to concrete, permanent docks is one or more aluminum loading ramp(s). Aluminum loading ramps are built to be both stable and portable, and can provide all of the functionality of a full-sized permanent dock at only a fraction of a cost.

You might have heard that only steel ramps are sturdy enough for heavy loading dock operations. This is a myth. Aluminum ramps are designed to handle both heavy payloads and human foot traffic. In fact, they can handle the same amount of weight as their steel counterparts--approximately 16,000 lbs to 30000 lbs. You can safely drive fork lift trucks up these ramps into trucks and operate a remote shipping yard or construction site just like a warehouse loading dock.

Even though aluminum is a lightweight metal, it can be reinforced to enable it to safely support high weight capacities. This combines the benefit of a relatively light ramp that is highly portable with a structural durability that can reliably withstand a beating during heavy productions times.

Heavy duty strength is not the only advantage you receive from an aluminum loading ramp. A number of key safety features are built into aluminum loading ramps that make them safe for workers to walk over while pulling pallet racks or carrying materials by hand. A 1 ½ʼ curb provides guidance up the ramp and prevents pallet rack and forklift roll offs. It is also important to keep the ramp from swaying to one side or the other while workers are walking up the incline. Safety chains anchor the ramp in place to keep it fixed in position. Rubber shock absorbers underneath the aluminum ramp prevent heavy loads from bouncing it up and down. Diamond-shaped grating on the surface of the deck provides extra traction for wheels and work boots, making the surface more slip resistant in rainy weather.

Because aluminum loading ramps and equipment are used so much in remote locations, it is also important that the by highly mobile. Portability, therefore, another key benefit you can expect to add to your rail yard or construction site with these remarkable tools. Because they are much lighter than steel equivalents, they can be pulled much more easily behind a fork truck attached to a tow bar that can be optionally attached to the ramp at the time of manufacture. They are also light enough for one worker to adjust manually by means of a hand-crank hydraulic pump that raises or lowers the ramp into position.

How can these warehouse pallet racking make us money?
If you can organize your products better, you can also move them in and out of your warehouse faster. This improves the efficiency of your process flow across the flow, and can help boost your profit margins by lessening downtime. This is important with a possible global recession looming over our heads. Now is not a good time to start building a new warehouse or strapping yourself with yet another lease. With warehouse used pallet racks customized to your existing storage facilities, you can make more of your existing space, and store more products for far less money than the cost of moving or constructing a new building.

How can you make such a bold claim to fame and create such a measurable improvement in times like this?
We can and we do because we are not afraid of what is on the news, and because we are precise in our design and planning on three critical levels. Every warehouse used pallet racking system is custom designed by our in-house engineer who carefully examines your industry, your companyʼs business model, and the specific inventory you have in stock. Considering these three elements at once allows us to also factor your projected growth into the warehouse pallet racking system we ultimately design for you. With a wide range of storage system components and accessories, we can create a storage system solution that solves your immediate space management and organizational concerns. When you come out of the recession, (or make a great deal of money in spite of it), the original pallet racking system is already built to accommodate new decking and supports when you need to expand it. This is seldom as difficult as it sounds to some, either, because warehouse used industrial pallet racking systems are engineered to be assembled and/or modified with no tools and modified according to your immediate storage need requirements.

How flexible are these warehouse pallet rack systems?
