Commercial Pallet Rack Beams

Easy Rack has many types of pallet rack beams made to accommodate a range of load requirements found in all sorts of industries. Selective pallet rack beams are available in the branded Mecalux style and the industry standard teardrop style. (The Mecalux style also works with Teardrop systems).

Our pallet rack beams can be adjusted on 2” centers and are sold in three different options. We sell one-piece units called step beams. We also sell JN beams, and we sell Z beams that are commonly used for building picking levels.

As previously noted, our most popular pallet rack beams design are those in the Tear Drop Design. They measure from 48” to 144” in length. Length and thickness determines weight capacity. Safety factors conform to current RMI standards. We recommend that if you use a single piece pallet rack beam that measures more than 108”, you should add an extra lateral support at the mid span point.

Another new and very popular design is the Easy Rack Ergo Pallet Beam. It has repeatedly proven itself to increase worker productivity while simultaneously reducing worker injuries.

It is manufactured from 4” of structural steel channel, which is far more resistant to damage than rolled steel. We have found that in 90% of impact-related accidents, structural steel beams can remain functional while repairs are being made in the meantime. Ergo beams are made to accommodate standard 48” X 40” pallets and can also be used with standard pallet supports. These units are sold by Easy Rack in three different model options as follows:

Standard- Channel flanges face inward and provide a comfortable surface for cartons.
Channel Flange Out- This protects bar-code labels from damage.

Label-Ergo Beam- Features a smooth surface and a 1/8” recessed web that prevents label damage.

The best thing about these pallet rack beams is they give you easy access to cartons that are hard to reach on lower shelf levels. This is because they create openings between pallet locations so order pickers can enter and reach rear cartons without causing damage.

This has reduced breakage of products in almost every business that has switched to using this type of pallet rack beam. In so many ways, it has proven itself the ideal solution for warehouse workers because of the way it splits the front shelf beam into two separate curved beams that attach to the rear horizontal.

In the case of companies with operations that consist of light loads that have little risk of product damage or injury, a great way to save money is to buy used pallet rack beams. Used Tear Drop models can be purchased in lengths anywhere 51”-153” in length. Because they are used, we cannot guarantee weight capacity, which is why we recommend you use them only when there is minimal risk to products and worker safety.

Pallet Rack Beams
Easy Rack has an extensive range of pallet rack beams that are designed to accommodate the diversity of load requirements found throughout the many different storage facilities we serve. Selective pallet rack beams can be ordered in the branded Mecalux style or the industry standard teardrop style. (One thing to keep in mind about the Mecalux style is it will also work with Teardrop systems).

Pallet rack beams are adjustable on 2” centers and come in three different options. They can be one piece units, called step beams. They can be JN beams, or they can be Z beams, commonly used for building picking levels.

As just noted, the most popular pallet rack beam design is the Tear Drop Step Beam. These range in length from 48” to 144”. Naturally, length and thickness determines weight capacity. Each beam’s safety factor conforms to current Rack Manufacturer Institute standards. Capacities are based on the even distribution of load throughout the beam. Single piece pallet rack beams that measure more than 108” long might have to have extra lateral support placed at the mid span point. (We recommend doing this).

Another design that is growing in popularity is the Easy Rack Ergo Beam. This pallet rack beam design has been repeatedly proven to increase worker productivity while simultaneously reducing worker injuries.

It is made from 4” of structural steel channel. Structural steel is far more resistant to damage than rolled steel. In 90% of impact-related accidents, these beams can remain functional and operations can continue while repairs are being made in the meantime. Ergo beams are intended to accommodate standard 48” X 40” pallets and can also be used with standard pallet supports. Manufacturers make these units in three different model options as follows:

Standard- The channel flange faces inward to provide a comfortable surface for cartons.
Channel Flange Out- The exterior flanges protect bar-code labels from being damaged
Label-Ergo Beam- this has a smooth surface and a 1/8” recessed web that prevents label damage.

The great thing about these commercial pallet rack beams is they provide such easy access to hard to reach cartons on lower shelf levels. This is because Ergo Beams create openings between pallet locations so an order picker can approach and comfortably reach the cartons in the rear.

This has reduced product breakage in virtually every business that has switched to using this type of pallet rack beam. Businesses are very happy due to the money this saves them on inventory replacement costs. In many ways, it has proven to be the best solution for warehouse workers because of the way it splits the front shelf beam into two separate curved beams that attach to the rear horizontal.

The opening this creates allows for plenty of room for order pickers to safely and efficiently access cartons in either the front or rear pallet with minimal risk of worker injury.

Finally, for companies whose operations consist of light loads with minimal risk of product damage or worker injury, one great way to save money is to invest in used pallet rack beams. Used Tear Drop beams can be bought that range anywhere from 51”-153” in length. Because they are used, there is no way to guarantee weight capacity, which is why we recommend they be used only when minimal risk to products and human safety are assured to begin with.

Used Heavy Duty Pallet Racks

Used heavy duty pallet racking helps companies consolidate and streamline inventory management—at up to 40% less the cost of new racking systems. The complexities of auto parts, paper products, liquids, and tire storage can be systematically and cost effectively addressed with Easy Rack used heavy duty pallet racking. An enormous variety of decks, dimensions, and weight capacities is only a phone call away for the warehouse or factory that requires heavy duty shelving, storage space, heavy duty racking, and boltless designs in long span storage racks. All of these components and systems can be purchased in excellent, used condition and utilized for maximizing both your square footage and your vertical cube space for expanded storage.

Boltless heavy duty pallet racking and used pallet rack systems.

The boltless design will not bow in the middle when a large amount of weight is placed on top of it. Used Boltless heavy duty pallet racking offers organizations extra warehouse space for large and bulky materials in a durable and safe design that can be used for a wide variety of industrial storage needs. These heavy duty pallet rack systems assemble with snap together parts that require no clips, bolts or tools. They are specifically designed for loading heavy bulky materials with a forklift or pallet jack.

The following summary represents just a few of the benefits companies can count on receiving from used heavy duty pallet racking, shelves, and rack trusses on sale at Easy Rack:
  • Used teardrop heavy duty pallet racking is the most popular storage system we sell.
  • The 2” vertical range allows for flexible height adjustment.
  • Standard Widths measuring 64" & heights to 300" will cover almost all heavy duty storage applications.
  • Strong & reliable upright truss are made from heavy channel bracing soundly welded to height tensile steel columns.
  • Safety is maximized by the boltless design feature.
  • All finishes are iron phosphate and powder coated to protect storage rack components.
  • Standard Pallet Racking Colors: dura-green frames and safety orange-beams.
  • Weight capacities can range as high as 35,000 lbs.
  • All teardrop style used industrial pallet racking components are made in accordance with the Racking Manufacturer's Institute and conform to light gage cold form standards.

  • What to look for when buying used heavy duty pallet racking and storage rack systems:
  • Insurance plays a critical role anytime a company invests in either new or used heavy-duty pallet storage racking.
  • Ruggedness and safety are key issues to discuss in detail with your commercial insurance agent.
  • Making certain that you comply with all industry standards will work toward minimizing liability when using heavy duty storage racking.

  • One more thing to pay very close attention to is your local fire code. A good part the country now requires wire decking in heavy duty pallet racking systems because steel and wooden decking will block the water coming from ceiling sprinklers in the event of a fire. While steel decks are still used for the heaviest duty industrial storage needs, there are many storage applications where wire decking will do just as well and also keep your facility in full compliance with regulatory agencies. Again, this is a matter to discuss with your commercial property insurance agent and Easy Rack material handling specialist.

    Used Pallet Racks

What benefits can we expect from used pallet racking?
Used pallet racks can save you up to 40% of the purchase cost of new pallet racks. For less money, you can experience the same structural stability, safety, and organizational benefits of pallet racking systems with less of a hit to your budget. Used pallet racks are equivalent in quality and performance to new systems.

What type of used pallet racking systems do you carry?
We can supply you with any standard model or arrange to have a custom pallet rack system built from used parts. Both standard and custom models can be obtained through your Easy Rack material handling specialist. We will provide you with the best system for your particular environment, terrain, indoor or outdoor conditions, and seismic quality of the floor or ground on which they are installed.

What type of used pallet rack do you sell the most?
Most of our clients prefer the teardrop pallet rack systems. Teardrop pallet racks are the industrial standard for most warehousing and manufacturing applications. They offer you a bolt less design that makes them easier to assemble and adjust. You will also have a more stable platform with less likelihood of buckling in the middle. Easy Rack teardrop systems are built heavy channel steel and supported by tensile steel columns to provide you with the safest and most reliable platform possible.

What is the difference between industrial and heavy duty used pallet racks?
There really is no difference between these terms. Heavy duty used pallet storage racks have metal shelving designed for high traffic and fork truck access. “Industrial” is sometimes used to refer to pallet racks with weight capacities of up to 48,000 pounds. They are constructed from structural steel and designed to withstand occasional fork truck collisions.

What type of pallet rack decking should be used?
Used wire decking is the most common type of decking used in industrial pallet racks. We can provide you with any of the three main forms of wire decking: waterfall, reverse waterfall, and lay-in decking. Fire codes are beginning to require wire decks because they offer no obstruction to fire suppression.

We can also provide you with wood decks can also be obtained by special request, but are not generally recommended due to the trend to use wire for fire codes. Heavy duty steel decking should be used for heavy duty industrial storage.

What are the best pallet racking systems?
Warehouse pallet rack systems and structural pallet racking systems normally meet the needs of almost all applications

Used warehouse pallet racks organize and store materials for organizations that anticipate growth or expansion. These systems are intended for adaptation and modification as workload and/or inventory increases. Warehouse pallet rack shelving helps convert your vertical cube and floor space into storage space, provide you with the best storage density within safety parameters, and facilitate either hand or fork truck access.

Used Structural Pallet Racks are extra sturdy, more stable, and more resistant to collisions than standard rolled pallet rack systems. Structural upright systems are available in a number of well-known, standard styles that include, but are not limited Inca, Sturdibilt, Steel King, Frazier, Arco, and Speedrack. Some pallet flow racking systems are designed for use exclusively indoors, while others can be used outdoors in construction or shipping areas.

    Shelving Units

Shelving units offer you a more efficient and safe means of storing products and materials that streamlines your process flow with greater time efficiency. This immediately benefits any organization currently spending too much money on overtime. Companies that invest in shelving units often discover they have a lot more space than they originally thought, and reconsider future plans to expand or move to a new location. Eliminating the cost of an impending move is an excellent way to avoid losing oneʼs shirt in the middle of a recession, and having the proper material storage tools on hand to store equipment, products, and supplies greatly reduces the risk of injury when things are not properly placed and secured in a facility. All of these benefits spell ROI and recession proofing for the warehouse or factory in todayʼs economy.

Shelving systems by Easy Rack are available in all sizes and industrial strengths and can be used to store almost any item or container that has a flat bottom surface. A shelving unitʼs ability to balance a load is just as important is its ability to support a load. The majority of 18 gauge and 20 gauge steel systems can easily support 400-450 lbs in weight. The model you choose should be determined by the width and girth of the items you will be storing. The wider the crate or box, the wider the shelf needs to be to evenly balance and distribute the weight. The best place to install such a industrial shelving unit is right next to a warehouse or stockroom wall; preferably at the intersection of a corner so one side of the unit has additional support from the second wall. Some shelving units are so large they can be used to fill an entire wall and turn unused vertical cube space into storage space. Other very compact models can be offices to store paperwork and office supplies.

If you are storing very heavy equipment, parts, or heavy crates, you will need one or more used industrial strength shelving units. Heavy duty shelves of this nature are often used to organize and maintain inventories of large machine parts stored in crates and large metal containers containing chemicals or other supplies. As a general rule of principle, always overestimate the amount of weight capacity you will need for heavy duty storage. Steel shelving units can and will become unstable if their weight capacity is inadvertently maxed out. Simply adding a few items to the inventory without knowing how much weight is already pressing down on the system can cross the threshold of safety. The biggest danger here is not so much the shelves themselves buckling downward under the weight, but the system becoming top-heavy and prone to tip forward.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you will need an open backed shelving unit or a closed backed model. If the system is to be placed against a wall so you can retrieve items from the front, a long span shelves or closed back commercial shelving unit offers you maximum stability by resting part of its weight against the wall and minimizing the risk of tipping. If the items you are storing, however, are not that heavy and the risk of tipping is minimal, an open backed shelving unit offers you the convenience of retrieving materials from the front, back, or sides of the unit. Open backed or rivet shelves are common in assembly line environments where a team of people has to retrieve smaller parts from a series of storage compartments continually throughout the day.

Consider as well that shelving dimensions refer to the total LXWXH measurements of the steel components, not the actual interior storage space. Be sure to check with your material handling specialist first to see exactly how much cubic space you will need in your new shelving unit. It might be necessary to purchase the next size up, or arrange for a custom unit to be built, in order to fully meet your material storage and handling needs.

Pallet Rack Removal Specialists, Forklift Pallet Attachments & Material Handling Ergonomic Pallet Moving Equipment

It is a good idea to outsource your pallet rack removal if you are moving to a new facility. Because almost everything your will be receiving in your new location arrives on pallets, having the correct fork lift attachments and other ergonomic pallet trucks on the day you open the doors of your new facility will prevent you from missing a step in your receiving cycle. Professional and reliable pallet rack removal by Easy Rack will safeguard the efficiency of your operations and ensure the safe storage of materials on heavy duty racking systems you can count on to be ready for use the day you move in.

Easy Rack recommends you outsource used pallet rack removal to us simply because the task is not as simple as it looks at face value. Modern warehouses feature much more complex designs than the old shell buildings of decades past, and the proper removal, relocation, and setup of your pallet rack shelving requires an expert who can assess the dimensions of your new facility, estimate the most efficient use of your new floor plan, and take all relevant safety requirements fully into account.

Professional pallet rack removal ensures not only human safety, but also the safety of your racks, materials, and supplies. Because these pallet storage units hold up hundreds and thousands of pounds of weight (and sometimes weigh quite a bit themselves), it takes trained professionals to properly remove stored components, disassemble your pallet racks, and remove them without damage or incident.

While it might be possible for some companies to handle their own pallet rack installation and removal safely, it is almost impossible to get it done quickly without losing time and money in the process.

By outsourcing your pallet rack removal to an Easy Rack specialist, your company will minimize the risk of catastrophic accident in your storage areas, and it will also maximize your chances that your pallet racks will be moved and re-installed in optimal shape and working condition.

Our professional pallet rack installers will not only install your systems, but they will test them for strength and integrity to make certain they are ready for use before you open the doors of your dock.

We do this for any client, anywhere in the nation. Each pallet rack and new facility is unique, so pallet rack removal is implemented on a case-by-case basis with careful attention being paid to critical details such as heat stress levels in the new facility, securing the units to the cement floor, and any necessary bracing to offset seismic activity in your area.

Let me tell you about Easy Rack ships and installs a wide variety of commercial shelving, material-handling equipment, commercial warehouse lighting, used pallet racks, Parking Lot Lighting Fixtures, Athletic Sports Lighting Equipment, Commercial Grade Christmas Lights, Tennis Court Lighting and modular prefab buildings installed nationwide.

Pallet Storage Racks, Heavy Duty Pallet Racking & Commercial New or Used Shelving Systems from Easy Rack.

The term “pallet storage racks” is quite frankly another term for heavy-duty pallet racks or heavy-duty shelving. Is refers to higher weight capacities, not to a specific size, color or style. Some pallet storage units feature weight capacities of up to 48,000 pounds.

In terms of construction, bulk pallet storage racks vary little from their lighter duty shelving equivalents. They function in much the same way, the only real difference being that they require professional installation to be safely and efficiently setup and they must be moved with heavier equipment in order to ensure the safety of both workers and content.

The most popular warehouse pallet storage racks found commonly throughout warehouses and factories nationwide is the teardrop design from Easy Rack. The standard dimensions for a teardrop pallet storage rack is 64” in width and 300” in height. In most normal heavy-duty storage environments, this usually provides all necessary storage space for the requirements at hand. Teardrop racks also offer an additional 2” of adjustable space to create maximum efficiency in height usage.

Teardrop pallet storage racking systems consist of boltless design that provides easy assembly and quick adjustment on the spot. Braces are welded together to high tensile steel columns to create a safe and sturdy upright truss. The most heavy-duty teardrop units feature a storage capacity of up to 35,000 lbs.

Both new and used pallet storage racks can be obtained from Easy Rack. Your Easy Rack specialist will help you choose which design and capacity pallet storage racks best fits your current warehouse or factory storage needs and which design and weight capacity are most appropriate for your particular situation.
