A crane garbage-trash skip is a 4X10 steel box with one end sloped. It attaches to a crane, and it is used for transporting a variety of loose materials. Trash skips are used primarily by construction companies, although many landscaping companies use them as well.
The waste skip is suspended from a crane by four cables or strap slings that measure 10 feet or longer in length. The sloped end makes it safe and easy to discharge its contents, even when loaded to maximum capacity. Constructed of heavy duty steel and reinforced at all stress points, this simple, yet powerful container can handle virtually any type of trash, debris, or excess material. It is ideal for removing tear-off and other refuse and waste from decks and roofs.
In the construction industry, trash-garbage skips are most commonly used to remove trash from buildings. As workers labor throughout the day on top of a story or roof, a tremendous amount of debris eventually piles up. Not only does it present a fall hazard, but it also poses a trip hazard to workers still moving around on top of the structure. This debris has to be dealt with in order to avoid accidents that can damage property and injure workers. The liabilities are simply too great to ignore.
This problem is easy to overcome thanks to this remarkable trash-waste container’s massive load capacity. It can easily load and safely move up to 12,000 pounds of debris at a time. It can be raised to any height, and then lowered directly onto a clear area on top of a building. Here, workers can fill it with debris, clear the area, and allow the crane operator to haul the debris away. If necessary, crane operators can also lower the top of the container parallel to the side of a building, allowing workers to simply push the debris off the roof into the container until it is full.
The key benefit this amazing waste, debris & trash loader offers onsite construction crews is the ability to self dump. To release contents, the crane operator first sets the trash skip on the ground. The two forward slings attached to the lifting eyes nearest the front end. The operator then lifts the trash skip with the rear slings still connected. This tips the unit forward and allows its contents to slide onto the ground.
The unit is equally easy to fill with trash, because the sides of the trash container are only 2’ high. Workers can safely shovel or hand load debris without having to reach up and over the sides of taller containers such as dumpsters. This is both ergonomic and time saving. The unit features a 2.75 cubic yard capacity, and it weighs 1,110 pounds when empty.
One-quarter inch steel reinforces all of its edges and corners, and the interior is reinforced by 3/16” steel plate liner. This makes the unit extra strong on the inside, and able to handle other materials such as rock, sand, or gravel. This is why many landscapers also invest in these waste skips because they are so efficient for backfilling operations.
