Definition
A gas powered trailer mover is a device that hooks up to a trailer and allows an operator to maneuver it in areas too narrow for vehicle traffic.
Challenges
Many items are best moved on trailers. While it is easy to hitch a trailer to a vehicle, it is not always so easy to get the vehicle to the trailer. Many times trailers are stored in a building, or in an alley way, that is too narrow for a vehicle to safely back into.
Storing a trailer in a building or alley, after it has been unhitched from a vehicle, can also be a laborious task. How, exactly, does one move the trailer once it is disconnected from a truck or a van?
Moving a trailer by hand is neither easy nor safe. Even small trailers used by homeowners can quickly throw out ones back, or cause one to slip, fall, and suffer injury. Commercial trailers are far too heavy, even when empty, to be manually maneuvered with any reasonable expectation of safety.
Equipment at a Glance
The gas powered trailer mover features a service range of 17 to 27 inches. Variable speed control and low speed torque are made possible by a 6 horsepower engine and a hydrostatic transmission. Forward and reverse controls, a safety kill switch, and a horn are all located on the handle.
The front tires are foam filled, featuring an aggressive tread pattern that provides exceptional traction on unpaved surface areas. A three ball hitch can be used to quickly convert to common sizes of 1 7/8, 2, and 25/16. When the handle is raised, the total size of the unit measures 51W by 66L and 40H.
Solutions
The gas powered trailer mover makes it both easy and safe to move trailers to and from storage areas and towing vehicles. They can also be used to move other objects in narrow spaces or rugged terrain. It only takes one operator to hitch and move the equipment. An engine powered lift enables hookup without the strain of hand jacking the trailer.
The mover features a lift capacity of 1,000 pounds and a pull capacity of 12,000 pounds. Many different types of equipment, trailers, and loads can be maneuvered around docks, into and out of storage buildings, and in tight squeeze areas along the sides of buildings.
While ideal for precision moving and placement in both paved and unpaved areas, gas powered trailer movers have one limitation. They are not recommended for use on ramps, inclines, or steeply sloped grades of any kind.
Results
Impressive results have followed on the heels of investment in these remarkable, sturdy devices. Small operations in particular have benefitted from the ability to maneuver materials into tight spaces within buildings and narrow outdoor storage areas between buildings, fences, and walls.
Gas powered trailer movers have made it possible for factories, warehouses, small storage yards, salvage yards, and commercial shipping facilities to effortlessly, safely, and precisely efficiently position trailers and unique pieces of equipment in the most challenging of location.
