Grocery Store Shelves

Easy Rack sells two very important types of grocery store shelving.

The most important thing in a grocery store is having aisle space that allows customers to comfortably push a shopping cart through a display area and fill their basket with what they want.  Being able to move grocery store shelves at will to create added space or new layouts is crucial to effective merchandising.  Making every product look appetizing is the grocer’s goal, so it is necessary to place every box, can, and package in a well-lit position of prominence to make certain people can read the brands, ingredients, and prices.  Otherwise, very valuable items can be easily missed by the busy shopper because they are either too far back on the shelf or covered by shadows created by shelving above.  Grocery stores also need to create different aisle layouts too in order to sectionalize the types of products they carry.  Food stuffs are not the same as over the counter medications or home wares, so it is often preferable to use different types and sized of grocery store sells to designate the locations of specific product groupings so customers can find them easily and quickly.

Easy Rack grocery stores feature two basic design builds and work like building blocks.  They allow the grocery to create displays of any length and position any type or size products at desired heights for maximum merchandising impact.  Each display fixture unit measures only 48” across.  The grocer can make an aisle or wall display of any horizontal length simply by fitting these basic units together side by side into a single display rack.  Double-sided shelving is used to create aisles down the middle and along the side areas of the store, while single-sided grocery store shelves are used to make the most of empty walls and corners that represent untapped showcasing potential just waiting to be utilized.

Additionally, very few grocery stores fail to use some sort of end cap to run specials and to position bulk purchase food items right in the line of sight of customers walking through the front door.  The beauty of Easy Rack single-sided wall shelving is that its 48” horizontal size makes it ideal not only for wall displays, but for end caps as well.  This saves the retailer money on having to buy special end cap displays that cost too much and offer nothing more than the necessary simplicity and adjustability that our shelving provides.

Because each shelf can support 350 pounds of weight and can be moved to any vertical position within the display, heavier items can be safely moved to the top where they have a better chance of catching a shopper’s attention.  Also, being able to vary the depth of these shelves adds even more power to the presentation, because by varying shelf depth one can see to it that every row of products gets an equal amount of light without any shadows obscuring labels, prices, or colors.

Grocery store shelves can be as little as 72” high to as tall as 84” high. 

Since most grocery stores have significantly higher than average ceilings and plenty of security cameras, taller displays can still be effectively used in conjunction to loss prevention efforts, and shorter displays can be used to offset and differentiate special product types such as medicines, kitchen supplies, or children’s toys.
