Skid steer brush mowers were developed in order to have a single device capable of cutting away vegetation of all moderate sizes. Before the invention of these cutter attachments, mowing had to be done with standard mowers or shredders drawn behind tractors. Trees and larger bushes, however, had to be hacked down by hand using axes or machetes. This slowed things down. Tractor drawn mowers also suffered occasional damage when an operator tried to cut something too large for the blades to handle.
By putting a cutter on the front of a skid steer loader, it then became possible to cut everything including 5 inch diameter trees with a few quick passes.
Basic Equipment Features and Capabilities
The skid steer brush mower uses heavy duty direct drive gear box to raises and lower the mower. The cutter can be attached to any modern sized skid steer via universal mounting plate. An optional quick tach also allows it to mount to the front of a fork truck.
The raised front will funnel brush, and a heavy duty push bar will push over small trees so they can be cut more easily. Nylon sleeves protect hydraulic hoses and couplers while the unit is in use.
You can use a skid steer brush cutter to cut vegetation above ground level as well as at ground level. All you have to do is to set the deck to the height recommended by the particular manufacturer who made your device.

You can also use the cutter to create mulch out of the vegetation you cut. Bring the front of the deck down to push the vegetation over and begin to cut into it. Then, bring down the back of the deck to drag over the vegetation. The combined cutting action will mulch grass, weeds, brush, and trees with this simple procedure.
