Fork Truck & Forklift Bucket Attachment

What is a bucket attachment?
A bucket attachment is a device that fastens onto the front end of a skid steer or forklift, transforming it into a device for a specialized application. Depending on the brand and model of the fork truck or skid steer, and the intended use of the bucket, it will have either a quick tach attachment or a universal fit.

Why should we invest in skid steer and forklift buckets?
Because by attaching them too one or two forklifts or skid steers you can enable two or three pieces of heavy construction equipment to perform multiple specialized tasks rapidly, safely, and accurately.

Why would I want a bucket attachment for my forklift? Shouldn't I just buy a loader?
Not so fast. Some loaders cannot reach into smaller places, and they are extremely expensive.
Forklift bucket attachments offer a more cost effective and streamlined design allows them to access hard-to-reach places. Forklift buckets with quick tach attachments are great for loading sand and gravel, and when you are finished at the end of the day, you can use them for site cleanup. In extreme northern climates, they are routinely employed to move snow. Universal, “slip over the forks” buckets are frequently used to load and unload gravel from roof tops and to remove trash.

What forklift attachment works best for masonry and moving small quantities of dirt, sand, and gravel?
The self-dumping bucket is a favorite forklift attachment for landscape work, masonry, and for moving small quantities of dirt, sand, small rocks, mulch, fertilizer and top soil. It slips right over the forks of any modern fork truck in a matter of minutes, and it needs no hydraulics and or forklift modifications to get started.

How many different models of skid steer bucket attachments do you offer?

We have six in total, ranging from buckets used for hauling dirt and agricultural products to snow and light material. The newest model that has just emerged on the market is the ribbed-bottom or “skeleton” bucket attachment. It has become very popular, very quickly, in applications that require sifting smaller debris out of the way.

Are root grapplers only good for pulling up tree roots?
No. Root grapplers make it easy to move bulky, hard-to-handle materials safely and quickly. Any time there is a major hurricane, tropical storm, and tornado, they are usually the very first and best choice for demolition and cleanup of storm debris. Perhaps the greatest benefit they offer is their ability to sift out dirt when moving larger piles of trash and heavy dirt. Utility lines and cables remain safe because the tines of a root grapple bucket attachment curve upward and outward to prevent accidental snagging.

How effective is a concrete placement bucket attachment?
Quite often, it is more effective than much more complex and expensive equivalents. It has no moving parts and therefore has less to break. It is one of those classic cases of how something simple works better than something complicated.

Skid Steer Buckets

Each of these skid steel bucket types can be customized. We can have heavy duty shanks welded to the cutting blade to increase pickup power. These teeth measure 2-1/4" across the point and weld straight onto the blade. In other applications that are extremely demanding, adding a punched blade with bolt-on-blade will increase the life of your skid steer bucket. Users consistently report an increase of up to 3 times the wear when they add this option.

Skid steer buckets can be used for a wide variety of tasks. Built for rugged applications and made to last, Easy Rack carries five basic standard models for a number of applications:
  • Low profile duty skid steer buckets are used to haul dirt.
  • Heavy duty buckets are made for utility work.
  • Agricultural units for moving fertilizer.
  • Special skid steer buckets are used by farmers to move seed.
  • Snow buckets for plowing and light material moving are ideal for extreme temperatures in northern climates.

Key features make these heavy duty skid-steer fork lift attachments must-have purchase for your construction site. Buckets also feature dual safety stops to make them more controllable, and beveled hard carbon steel side blades that reinforce and protect the bucket sides. Skid steer buckets are strengthened even more by seams that are fully welded. The flat, square bottom of each bucket type allows you to back drag the unit over dirt to level it. Scuff bars reinforce this area to prevent excessive wear. A 3/8", plate steel universal quick tach allows skid-steer buckets to fit almost any loader brand.

Standard type steer buckets cannot be used for optimal results in some applications, however. Because they are solid, they scoop up everything. A new, ribbed-bottom design now makes it possible to actually scoop and sift for certain projects that require only larger materials to be moved. The ribbed-bottom skid steer bucket features an open ribbed bottom that sifts dirt and smaller materials to the ground without picking up and moving larger materials.

Ribbed bottom skid steer buckets are low cost specialty tools that are excellent for virtually any specialized application. Everyone from demolition teams, scrap handling workers, farmers, and construction crews are beginning to use them more and more. Ribbed-bottom skid steer buckets are also becoming a rapid favorite among landscaping crews because they are ideal for moving rocks. They are also being used increasingly to move certain masonry materials, and debris cleanup crews prefer ribbed-bottom buckets because they sift out the dirt and sand when cleaning hazardous debris from a site.

Portable Concrete Bucket Mixers

Portable cement mixers transform skid-steers into mobile, ready mix units. Some are made with a rotating cylinder design, while others resemble scoop buckets that can then tilt upward to mix cement with raw materials and make concrete. The demand for portable cement drum mixers continues to rise as ready mix companies continue to raise their prices for concrete delivery concrete yardage costs (due to increases in fuel prices nationwide.) This wastes time and money any time crews have to wait for trucks to arrive, or purchase more concrete than they actually need.

Portable cement mixers eliminate unnecessary downtime, expenditure, and waste by allowing crews to mix cement and concrete on the spot whenever necessary. Both cement mixer drums and skid-steer bucket concrete mixers can be used by workers to mix only the cement and concrete they need for a particular task at hand. Both types of portable cement mixers give work crews onsite, ready-mix capability and do away with the hours of waiting many crews have to endure when third parties become involved in a project.

Easy Rack supplies construction companies with two types of portable cement mixers that attach to almost any skid-steer and make cement mixing portable, ergonomic, safe, and cost effective.

Concrete Mixer Drums are ideal for mixing both cement and concrete 6 cubic feet at a time.

  • The rotating cylinder design makes this ideal for evenly mixing both cement and concrete.
  • This mixer can handle 6 cubic feet-ideal of cement or concrete at a time.
  • The mixer drum is powered by an independent hydraulic motor that mounts to the skid-steerʼs exterior.
  • Universal quick-tach attachments allow portable cement mixers mount to almost any skid-steer units.
  • This portable cement mixer drum is simple to use: just tilt it up to load it, transport it to the desired location, mix and tilt to pour.

If you have to make concrete on the spot with sand or gravel, skid-steer bucket concrete mixers are the best tools to use.

  • If you are making concrete with sand or gravel on your construction site, use these units as buckets to scoop up these materials before adding your cement.
  • Break your cement bags over the splitter on the side.
  • Add water, mix, and discharge either by tilting the mixer downward or through a chute on the side.

Portable cement mixers allow your crew to mix concrete and cement on the spot using only a skid steer, water, and a basic raw materials readily available on the job site. This significantly reduces man hours, elimination of overtime, excessive expenditures on subcontracting ready mix suppliers, and time delays that can affect project completion.

Forklift Work Platforms

There are many instances where companies have to elevate workers and materials for specific jobs. Forklift works platforms attach to forklifts and accomplish this safely, efficiently, and economically. Forklift work platforms can be used both indoors and outdoors for any number of tasks. Companies routinely use them in inventory management, any number of equipment repair operations, lighting and electrical maintenance, and building repair.

No matter what type of forklift platform you use for your work, there are certain essential qualities every platform should have that you should be on the lookout for. Your forklift platform will have to be strong enough to support workers and equipment without buckling or bowing in the middle. It must have some kind of enclosure as well to prevent workers and supplies from falling to the ground. If possible, addition precautions such as skid-proof decks and toe guards should be built into the design. Last but not least, and Easy Rack recommends you invest a little extra as well in models that screen workers from forklift masts.

Currently we have three major lines of forklift work platforms that are designed to be highly maneuverable and access difficult places with maximum safety and time efficiency.

Industrial Forklift Platforms
These platforms will attach to any standard or industrial sized forklift and can fit through openings as narrow as 3’. A variety of fork sizes ranging up to 6” wide by 2 2/4” thick can access the platform, which is then secured in place by a positive pin locking system that holds it in place. Workers remain safe from the forklift because they are shielded at all times by a safety protection screen that extends vertically from the base of the platform and prevents workers from coming into contact with the mast. Full perimeter rails provide a safe, stable work environment. The unit replaces uses a front mid-rail gate that closes and locks in place as a safer alternative to a gate that could swing open unexpectedly.

Slip-On Style Forklift Platforms
These forklift attachments are designed to reach over obstacles that normally require a boom to access. Much smaller, more economical, and faster than scaffolds, they are ideal for both indoor and outdoor projects that require safe, quick elevation of workers. Aerial platforms further ensure worker safety with skid proof decking that minimizes the risk of slippage, and full perimeter guard rails that feature toe guards and tie offs for lanyards.

Quick-Tach Style Forklift Platforms
This platform separates work space from material storage space by placing workers on one platform and materials on the other. Supported by adjustable vertical supports, the materials platform is rated as 600 pounds capacity. Workers stay inside the safe perimeter guardrails that feature toe guards and lanyard tie offs identical to aerial models. To make the unit super safe, your material handling specialist can have mast protection built into it at the time of manufacture. Skid proof decking, easy and safe access to tools, and skid-free work space make this the most versatile attachment to use for multiple applications.

Fork Lift Truck Attachments

What is the greatest benefit offered by forklift attachments?
Rack forklift attachments can save thousands of dollars on specialize equipment costs by turning standard fork trucks into specialized tools for a wide range of applications. Simply adding the right attachment can enable you to do anything from elevating materials and workers to loading materials into containers.

Can safety work platforms be used to lift personnel to higher floors?
Yes. In addition to lifting materials, safety work platforms can elevate workers up and over obstructions that prohibit the use of scissor lifts. They offer a safer, larger, and more stable work platform than boom lifts and can be elevated to the desired height much faster than a scaffold. These forklift attachments are designed to be fully OSHA compliant and feature toe boards, full perimeter guardrails, and secure access gates. They can be customized with optional mast protection screens that will protect workers from the moving parts of the forklift mast.

Do you have attachments for cleanup?
Yes. Self-dumping hoppers attach to forklifts and allow you to load and carry debris and garbage to dumpsters. Built for rough terrain, these dump hoppers will release debris from an elevated location when discharged, saving time and reducing the risk of collisions with the dumpster in the process.

Do you have specialized lifting attachments?
We have a number of lifting devices you can use to customize your forklift and get the most out of its power. Lift hooks secure toward the base of the forks and allow the forklift to safely and easily lift up to 10,000 pounds. They attachments can be used with both straight-mast and extendable reach forklifts.

The quick-tach truss boom performs exactly like a crane, at a much lower cost. It is ideal for work in low-rise jobs, especially metal and portable building erection.

Heavy duty jobs can be tackled with the Easy Rack heavy duty jib cranes. Made for moving large items in and out of hard to reach places, this jib reaches over or under obstructions and scaffolding, and it can go through narrow openings like windows.

Fork Lift Platforms

The quick elevation of maintenance personnel to overhead racks and shelving is essential to the smooth operations of any organization. The key is to transport them with the best assurance of safety in the process to avoid injuries, downtime, and possible liabilities. Forklift work platforms are an excellent way to accomplish both safe and speedy transportation of workers from one part of the plant to the other. Simply by attaching one of these work platforms to the front of your forklift, you create an entirely new form of vehicle that is intended for a specific, unique function and designed to fulfill that function with the highest level of human safety.
Forklift work platforms are built with fork pockets in the back that allow them to be accessed by the forks of a fork truck. Chains are then wrapped around the forks to provide the first level of securing the attachment. To further secure the unit, as tine is engaged to lock the work platform firmly in place.

Forklift work platforms feature handrails on the side that workers can hold onto in order to maintain their balance while the platform is being elevated or moved. Most units also include a checker floor plate that is designed to provide foot traction for workers while the forklift is moving the platform forward. The fourth side of most units features a 60” high expanded metal backing, although in California, OSHA requirements mandate an 84” backing, which you can easily obtain from your Easy Rack account manager.

The standard capacity for the average forklift work platform sold by Easy Rack is approximately 1,000 pounds—more than enough to safely carry the weight of several employees from point to point. Further safety features such as a lanyard with safety harness, a harness or hook to further secure the platform to the forklift, and an emergency stop button kit and web can be ordered with your unit. Fork truck work platforms can be ordered in either new models or used models. Used models feature the same capacity and safety features as new fork truck work platforms, but can save you as much as 40% off your purchase order.

If space is limited in your facility, and you are uncertain as to whether or not you can conveniently store fork truck work platforms while not in use, don’t give up on the idea of investing in these excellent tools for managing inventory and performing repairs. Invest instead in the space saving, super efficient fold down forklift work platform. This unit operates in exactly the same manner as our standard models do, and it offers the added benefit of compact storage. One person can easily assemble the unit for use and fold it down again when finished.

Doors on either side of the fold down forklift work platform open easily and close securely with a built in latch. The platform features 60’ high expanded metal handrails and back to ensure personnel safety, and the platform also includes a tine lock like the ones found in standard models. When workers are finished with the task at hand, one person can quickly fold the work platform down and store it with minimal effort, lost time, and space.

Fork Lift Attachments Provide Material Handling Diversity & Mobility.

Forklift attachments from Easy Rack are designed to give any fork lift operator a greater variety of uses for lift trucks in both the warehouse and the loading dock area. Special fork lift hoppers, for example can be used to move large quantities of materials, and then used as a self dumping hopper. Forklift attachments include extended forks that are able to give greater support to larger objects when they need to be lifted, and specially shaped forks that allow you to carry particular loads such as 55 gallon oil drums or move snow with a plow attachment.

Other popular fork lift attachments from Easy Rack include:

Hoist & hook attachments

Fork Lift Boom Attachments

Fork Truck Platforms

Fork Lift Extensions

Fork Lift Ram Attachments

The majority of the fork lift attachments available from Easy Rack are designed to refine rather than to reinvent the forklift, and to make it a much more specialized tool that can perform jobs more accurately and more safely. Some items such as protective sleeves for a fork lift are simple plastic items that simply fit over the existing fork to remove the sharp edges and ensure that less damage or injury is caused should the forklift crash into any item or person.

The fact is that no matter what the kind of load you need to lift, there is a special adaptation or forklift extension attachment that can make the job easier. While the standard model of forklift is an extremely capable and versatile tool that offers plenty of value as part of your range of material handling equipment, the fact is that by giving it additional equipment to allow it to carry out a wider variety of roles within the warehouse or factory, you also extend the value that it offers to your business.
