Jib Boom Forklift Truck Attachment

Why should we buy forklift attachment jibs instead of a jib crane?
We certainly won’t discourage you from buying one of our jib cranes if you need one, but please be aware that it might not be necessary. If you are on a budget, or if space on your project site is limited, jib forklift attachments can work equally effectively for most tasks that require a crane. They are less expensive than cranes and can perform at a fraction of the cost.

What are some of the things forklift attachment jibs can do?
Forklift attachment jibs allow you to reach over obstructions to place heavy loads on roofs, elevated platforms, and decks. You can use them to reach through windows and doorways to pick up loads from second and third story areas still under construction. Forklift jibs can also be used to load and unload flatbed trailers and trucks. Many companies use them to suspend trusses and to laminate wood, and heavy duty jibs can also be very useful when reaching over scaffolding for masonry work. Overall, they are some of the most useful tools you can invest in for moving and handling equipment on a construction site

How many swivel hooks do your jibs have?
Every forklift jib attachment is made with two swivel hooks. One hook is permanently fixed at the end of the crane jib, and the other hook can be manually placed at any location the underside of the boom. This allows you to pick up any load with two hook points. You can use one hook or two hooks to pick up a load, Be sure in either case that you make certain that the total weight of the jib and the load does not exceed the rated capacity of the jib as shown on the load chart for that extended or retracted position.

Each hook is individually rated at either 4000 lbs. or 6,000 lbs, depending on the size of the model.

Forklift Attachment jib Load Capacities
Maximum load capacity for forklift jibs can range from 1935-6000 lbs. Ask your forklift manufacturer or Easy Rack account manager about load limits for your particular application. Remember too that load capacity ratings are for the jib itself and not the forklift nor the maximum load that can be safely handled with a particular forklift. Anytime a forklift jib, is added to a fork truck it creates a new center of gravity and reduces the lift capacity of the forklift. Reference our article on “heavy duty jibs” for details on how to calculate these load limits, or call a member of our staff.

Jib Boom Forklift Attachment Safe Usage
Before using a forklift attachment jib or self dumping hopper, be certain that you have properly secured it to the forklift with shackles and hooks, and check to make sure that the screw pins are tight. Double check too that your load limit calculations are correct, and take into consideration while doing so that rated capacities can and will decrease when the boom is in a raised position, when telehandlers are used, or when you tilt the fork truck mast forward

Do not pull any load with a forklift jib. Jibs are designed exclusively for vertical lift. Use extreme caution to prevent the load from swinging and tipping over the fork truck.

Column Protectors, Modular Guards, Structural Column Guards, and Bumper Wraps Online.

Column protectors support beams, pipes, racks, and columns and provide an encircling, protective barrier around the column base perimeter. Many are designed specifically for indoor use, while others can be used to protect the supporting beams of exterior walls. Most column protectors are easy to self-install, but Easy Rack will install them for you at the time of delivery if the labor and expense self-installation are not cost effective for you to accomplish yourself.

Easy Rack has a wide variety of used and new column protector models that you can select from.

Modular Machinery Guard Systems
Modular Machinery Guard Systems are column protectors that protect machinery by either supporting a side strut within a wall, or by completely surrounding a stand-alone or column or beam. Because of their adaptability, modular guard column protectors can be ordered to fit almost any application. Modular machine guard systems are designed for easy assembly and do not require a third party installer to secure. Each railing section of the column protector is installed and fastened to the post with a single bolt. You can choose between different railing lengths to custom fit your application.

Modular railing systems are manufactured from heavy-duty 3" square steel tubing. Wall mounting posts are used when securing the railing system to a wall. Units are made from steel and coated with durable safety yellow powder coat finish. All components are sold separately in order to allow for custom orders and installation. Ask an Easy Rack Specialist about the various options we furnish, or click here for technical information.

Heavy Duty Column Protectors
Heavy-duty column protectors offer a two-piece design for protecting in-plant columns and other vertical support members. They are used around cylindrical or right-angled columns. Easy Rack provides all necessary hardware required to connect both pieces together, and if time is an issue, will install them for you. These HD column protectors are made with heavy-duty welded steel construction. Each base plate includes (4) pre-drilled mounting holes. Hardware required for concrete installation is also sold separately by Easy Rack. Units are powder coated with a safety yellow finish.

Gantry/Jib Guards
Steel pipes and columns are extremely vulnerable vehicle impact and can also create a safety hazard if liquid or gas springs from a resulting leak. Preventing costly damage to steel columns, pipe and tubing from carts and fork trucks with gantry/jib guard column protectors can save money and avoid safety-related penalties and liability. Each gantry/jib guard is made with solid steel design and is constructed of 1/2" thick material for maximum strength. They are ideal for fixed jibs and gantry cranes (also available through Easy Rack in both used and new models.)

Structural Column Protectors
Sometimes it is necessary to encase the surface of a column, pipe, or tube completely in order to give it the best protection. In such cases, Structural Column Protectors constructed of UV protected polyethylene make for one of the most effective barriers possible against accidental impact. The units are easy to assemble (with fasteners included at no additional cost) and can be stacked two high. Easy to assemble with fasteners included.

Pipe & Downspout Column Protectors
Easy Rack Steel Down Spout Guards will fit around all standard down spouts. They provide excellent protection for down spouts and pipes attached to buildings. The Poly Pipe Protector fits pipes up to 5" diameter. Units are simple to install, featuring an easy bolt on installation. Easy Rack will ship installation hardware as a separate order or handle installation for you. Downspout and pipe column protectors are available in steel (powder coated in safety yellow) for optimum strength or polyethylene for protection with deflection.

Bumper Wrap
Bumper Wrap is a lightweight, flexible, UV coated protective bumper wrap ideal for protecting columns, pipes, and rack supports in warehouses, drive-through’s, fueling stations and municipal barrier applications. Bumper wrap is made from non-marring, highly visible flexible vinyl. You can use it to protect vehicles from impact and scraping damage while protecting posts from constant abuse.
