Shade Canopies & Sun Shade Covers

Shade canopies protect you from heat and ultraviolet light. Easy Rack shade protection products are high quality fabrics designed for specific environments and applications. Many cantilever shade covers are intended for commercial environments, while others are made for home back yards. We also sell sun protection screens for playgrounds to protect kids from sunstroke and sunburn.

UV factors in include 45 percent, 63 percent, and 80 percent. Easy Rack shade cloth can be used in many different types of sun control structures. The shade canopy stretches tight over a support structure that shelters humans, animals, and in some cases, even plant life underneath. Shade canopies & custom umbrellas types include awning, tension structures, and garden structures.

Unlike permanent shelters, Easy Rack shade canopies are commonly on playground environments to protect children both UV radiation, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. We have fabrics that can be also shelter people on school campuses and outdoor areas around hospitals. The UV factor you choose really should be based on the basis of what you are looking to shelter people from. If heat is the biggest concern, then a lower UV factor is acceptable. If the greatest concern is sunburn, then a higher UV factor will be necessary.

Easy Rack shade structure protection devices are more than simple fabrics that you stretch across an overhead frame. The fabrics we use to make these various protection devices are so tough that they can be used to build permanent shade structures. Many are fire resistant. Others are waterproof and made to withstand heavy rains. Others, like double shade sails are made to withstand wind speeds of up to 80 mph. Provided you have a structure that can take a beating for the elements, you can count on our sun protection canopies themselves to endure the elements and continue to perform when the sun—and heat—return.

In addition to sun shades for schools, playgrounds, and hospitals, we also make a number of models that are ideal for commercial office parks. Many companies like to build a shaded area between two buildings for employees to use as a comfortable break area.

Athletic facilities use our shade canopies as well. Some sports can actually be played under the larger canopies so players can get relief from direct sunlight. Other hip n ridge shade covers are made for seating areas so fans can watch the game from a comfort zone. This not only protects them from heat and UV rays, but it also keeps the sun out of their eyes so they can better see the game.

Residential shade canopies are intended for backyards and patios. They let families spend time outside free from direct contact with the sun. These canopies can be custom made to fit the dimensions of outdoor swimming pool patios, porches, or backyard gathering spots.

All of sun protection products are meant to look as good as they work. Both the textures and colors of we create provide very decorative additions to a playground, school, home, or office park. Just a few of the colors you can choose from include Black, Brown, Deep Sea Blue, Green, Medium Blue, Silver and Spiced Sand. Patio Shade Structures & Patio Canopy

Why does a playground need a shade?
About 80 percent of a person's total lifetime UV exposure occurs in the first 18 years of life. Without some type of playground shade structure, a child is going to get sunburned. It only takes 10 minutes for this to happen. One blistering sunburn, prior to 18 years of age, can double the risk of a child eventually developing melanoma.

Without consistent playground shade covers, approximately 25 percent of all children who are under 6 years of age, and approximately half of all children who are under 13 years of age, will be sunburned to the point of blistering. Tragically, these statistics currently result in approximately 1 out of every 5 children in the United States growing up to suffer from (and often die) from some form of skin cancer later in life.

We have heavy cloud cover in our part of the country. Don’t the clouds block UV light?
No. 80 percent of UV radiation still reaches the ground. Keep in mind that only a fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum is visible to the human eye. Even on what appears to be a very dark day, the sun is still there, above the clouds, and UV light is still coming down on us. Patio shade structures prevent this kind of UV exposure.

What benefits do Easy Rack playground shades offer schools and parks?
Outdoor play areas are cooled down and protected from up to 95 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet light. This so drastically improves safety for school children that it directly contributes to the educational cycle, because with fewer painful sunburns, there will be fewer trips to the nurse for treatment. Also, severe cases of sunburn that often result in kids being sent home will be prevented.

Won’t these structures make our playground look odd or unattractive?
No. Easy Rack playground fabric sun shade structures are designed with aesthetics in mind. We can provide you with any number of styles, sizes, and colors that will compliment your school or park facility.

Can any other type of business use these structures?
Yes. Hospitals and outdoor athletic facilities also use playground sun canopies. Many hospital patients actually need to go outside for fresh air, provided they are stable enough to walk and travel to and from their beds with doctor supervision.

However, these people DO NOT need to get sunburned on top of whatever else put them in the hospital! Consider a hip n ridge shade structure to prevent this from happening.

Athletic facilities rely on playground shades to protect players and fans. The decorative nature of their design contributes the sense of festivity and ball in play.

Do you have playground shades for specialty parks and other public areas?
Easy Rack offers both standard and custom designs to specifically accommodate a number of very special activity centers. Municipalities use our playground double shade sail covers to protect their amusement parks, water parks, and zoos. Any area around water will have a higher incidence of sunburn due to water’s reflective capability, and zoo animals suffer just as much as humans do because UV radiation breaks down ANY type of animal cell—not just human.
