Most rolling warehouse ladders are built from steel. They are specifically designed with OSHA and ANSI compliance in mind. Smaller models can be shipped assembled and ready for use. Many facilities, however, prefer to order unassembled units to save on shipping costs. Certain common features found in all models help combine convenient usage with stable, ergonomic operation:
1. 59 degree climbing angle for all forward ascent models
2. Steps are 7 inches deep, with the exception of the top step
3. 11 standard colors protected with a powder coat finish that protects both metal and appearance
4. Ladders with less than 5 steps are secured with spring loaded casters that lock down when a worker begins to climb the steps
5. Ladders with more than 5 steps are secured in place with proprietary Safelock system
Rolling warehouse ladders also offer users several choices in ladder design. Both treads and top steps can be custom ordered in accordance with the following options:
1. Performa Grip Tread for maximum slip resistance in standard environments
2. Grip Strut Tread for maximum slip resistance in challenging or heavy duty environments
3. Top step can be 10 inches deep, 20 inches deep, or 40 inches deep
Industrial grade models for heavy duty environments have a base that is manufactured using 1¼ inch thick steel tubing. Additionally, facility managers can also order models designed for downward descent. These ladders have a climbing angle of only 50 degrees. Top step choices are 12 inches or 24 inches.
