Platform Scales
Many industries depend on a platform scale as a key element to turning a consistent profit.  Any facility that absolutely must have accurate weight measurements to move material either to the factory floor, to distribution centers, and especially to open market, need the most accurate and reliable platform scales available.  It is important that no matter how much weight is placed on a platform scale, the unit always remain stable.  It is also important that heavy duty platform scales be skid proof so items weighed do not slip.  It is not so much an issue as an item falling off the scale that matters, but rather slipping can and does cause an inaccurate reading to result unless the item is perfectly still.

Easy Rack sells platform scales in four standard models available in two different material builds and two standard dimensions.  Units intended for only industrial use are coated with lead-free epoxy.  Scales intended for use in food preparation industries are stainless steel.  The smaller pallet scale measures 48” X 48” and can handle capacities of either 5,000 or 10,000 lbs.  It features solid steel construction covered with a diamond tread safety pad.  The larger unit heavy duty pallet scale measures 60” X 60” and also features a lead-free epoxy coating over a steel, diamond tread safety pad.  A bit more heavy-duty than its smaller cousin, it can manage up to 20,000 lbs of weight at a time.  These platforms are ideal for distribution centers that have to make sure that every truck is loaded—but not overloaded—to capacity

Some industries, however, cannot use a scale that is made from standard steel and coated with epoxy.  Due to health regulations, stainless steel platform scales must be used when weighing any type of food product, be it vegetables, meat, poultry, or fish.  Stainless steel scales are a vital tool for food processing plants and fish canneries, where sterility is just as important as measurement. 

Stainless steel platform scales do not need the heavy capacity as their larger industrial equivalents.  Both the 48X48 model and the 60X60 model top out at 5,000 lbs—plenty of capacity for any food product where precise measurements matter more than bulk payloads.
