A skeleton buckets is a skid steer attachment with a reinforced, heavy bottom and vertical tines in the front that are spaced a few inches apart. These tines allow small rocks and dirt to fall through to the ground, but they hold on to larger dirt and debris that need to be moved. Such a versatile tool can prove itself an invaluable in a wide range of landscaping and construction applications. Any project that requires workers to clear the area without gouging out large holes in the ground can be expeditiously, efficiently, and safely performed with a skeleton bucket.
There are many tools that workers can use to clear an area. It is not like hauling trash away is a hard thing to do. However, anything with a sold bottom ends up carrying dirt away with it. This either leaves holes in the ground, or in the case of an area that will later need to be landscaped, creates an eyesore from an aesthetic perspective.
Skeleton buckets move debris away much more efficiently than standard backhoes and crane buckets. In the western United States, they are ideal for moving large rocks off of construction sites. In the southeastern and eastern parts of the country, they are perfect for hauling away the remnants of stumps and tree roots. In urban areas, they are very useful in demolition projects where crews are in charge of clearing away building fragments, broken cinder blocks, and bricks that need to be removed from a lot. This saves money and time by maintaining keeping the terrain level for new construction.
Farmers also use these buckets to remove debris, tree roots, and scrub brush from fields and pastures. The environmental impact to these areas is minimal due to the open-ribbed bottom design. Scrap metal operations also find skeleton buckets very useful because they sift out smaller pieces of metal. This makes it possible to sort different materials according to size and place them in separate piles. Consolidating stock in this manner helps junk yards better organize scrap and keep it in consolidated areas away from human traffic and moving vehicles.
The skeleton bucket features a leading edge, ¾” X 6” high carbon beveled blade that is punched to allow for an optional, bolt-on blade attached. This attachment is often added when working around trees in order to better cut through heavy root systems and stumps. Optional heavy duty teeth can be added when working with metal, concrete, or cinder block. The top of the skeleton bucket is reinforced by a closed box channel section, and heavy angle section at the bottom reinforces the unit’s structural backbone.
Easy Rack skeleton buckets are available in 66”, 72”, and 84” widths. All units are fitted with a heavy duty universal-fit skid-steer quick-tach designed to fit all current sized skid-steer loaders.
Any construction or landscaping project that involves moving large amounts of debris off site can benefit from one of these rugged and versatile skid steer attachments. Tough enough to handle any site and any climatic extreme, skeleton buckets represent an investment in multiple solutions and applications.
