Industrial & Commercial Steel Shelving Unit Systems.
Steel shelving converts interior walls and large sections of the vertical cube into consolidated, safe, efficient storage space. The space consolidation this brings to organizations facing an impending move is often all that is needed to cancel that move and save an enormous amount of money. Additional savings appear soon after as employees find what they are looking for faster and get their jobs done in less time. Keeping track of inventory becomes much easier as well, which averts over purchasing and often uncovers opportunities for tax breaks.
Easy rack steel shelves are made from the highest commercial grade steel and are available in both used and new models. Steel shelving of this caliber will withstand extreme temperatures and sudden changes in climate in any part of the country. Commercial grade metal protectors ensure that shelving systems withstand the elements any time the bay doors to warehouses are open and units become exposed to the outside air.
Industrial clients can choose steel shelves in several different strengths, sizes, and design builds to accommodate any factory, warehouse, storage room, office, or even retail facility.
Open-Backed Shelving
As the name indicates, there is no back on an open-backed shelf. It consists of a steel frame that supports the individual shelves. The strength of an open-backed system is determined by the gauge of steel from which it is made. Larger industrial strength gauges are used to store boxes and crates that require immediate access from any angle. Smaller shelving units are often used in offices where they can store bins of office supplies or files of paperwork for inventory and tax purposes.
Closed-Backed Shelving
These steel shelves are enclosed on both sides and the back by steel plates. They can be closed and locked together for security purposes, or they can be opened and installed along a wall. These units offer companies the stability of a design very similar to a cabinet but with much greater resistance to wear and tear and, of course, a much greater weight capacity.
Both open-backed systems and closed-back systems are powder-coated with iron phosphate and painted with baked on enamel to prevent corrosion and buffer them against occasional impacts. Also, these units can be used to build industrial shelving systems by bolting the bottom of one unit to the top of another with adjustable clips. This form of customization is called “box shelving” and can create storage systems capable of handling up to 2,000 pounds in weight.
Long-Span & Wide-Span Shelving
These are the largest and most powerful steel shelving systems available to industrial clients. They are built extra long and can be connected together end-to-end in order to transform entire factory and warehouse walls into storage space.
Wide span shelving is made from 24-gauge steel and is designed to support up to 35,000 lbs. in weight. However, they are not always used for heavy-duty storage. Many auto parts stores, tire an lube service centers, and hardware stores use smaller long-span shelves to store products, paperwork, reference materials, and product manuals behind the front counter.
Wide span shelves are supported by beams built around a two-piece design that increases the unit’s center of gravity and enables it to support a greater amount of weight without becoming unstable during loading, unloading, or in the event of an accidental collision.
