Commercial Folding Door Gates

What are folding gates used for?
They are primarily used to limit access to buildings and passageways without blocking ventilation or obstructing visibility. Warehouses and factories often use folding security gates to protect building entrances, bay doors, docks, and rear entrances to plants. Schools, hospitals, homes, and offices can also benefit from metal folding gates when extra security measures are desired and determined appropriate.

What folding gates do you recommend for securing door openings?
We recommend you use folding steel security gates for doors ranging from 24" to 48" wide and 61" to 83" high. These gates are built with a reversible hinge design that allows them to be mounted to either the right side or the left side of the doorway in either the casing or the face of the opening. Each gate includes a locking bar that you can lock with a padlock. When not in use, the folding security gates will pivot 180 degrees out of the way when open.

What is the best gate to use for a standard door opening to a house or a garage?
One-piece gates are the best gates to use for this. You can install them in standard openings, patio doors, garages, and industrial and commercial entrances measuring 4-1/2' to 7-1/2' wide and up to 8' in height. Single folding door gates are manufactured to lock on the left (default position), but an Easy Rack specialist can have them made to lock on the right side. Like a door gate, a one-piece gate can pivot 180 degrees when not in use, and is stabilized and centered by a drop pin.

What is the best gate to use for protecting our storefront?
The best choice is a double folding gate. It can be custom fitted to any size width, and a maximum height of 10'. Because they are Double Gates, each side will swing 180 degrees out of the way, allowing the collapsible gates to be used with dock and overhead doors in industrial facilities that need an unobstructed passage for vehicles and material handling equipment to pass through.

Do you make smaller, portable folding gates?
Yes. portable folding gates are made with a two piece design consisting of dual 6ʼ X 6.5ʼ sections and are most commonly used by schools and hospitals. They are easy to install because they can pass through standard door heights and be can be rolled up for convenient storage.

Industrial Security Gates

Industrial security gates are designed to cover access points of different types and sizes. Consisting of a sturdy, impenetrable lattice work of 14-gauge channel steel, an industrial security gate cannot be pushed through or broken down. At the same time, it allows clear visibility either into or out of a building, and it helps ventilate fumes, industrial by products, and excess heat from industrial plants and warehouses.

There are four types of industrial security gates: single gates, double gates, door gates, and portable gates. Single gates and Double gates mount on hinge pins that allow workers to pivot the gate to the side and out of the way when the doorway is open to traffic. Drop pins located at the center of both single and double gates prevent the steel lattice from caving in when pushed or collapsing under its own center of gravity. This design makes each unit impenetrable and extremely durable. Protection from the elements and added durability also comes from a thick coat of black enamel paint applied to every gate at the time of manufacture.

Specific features and benefits of each model follow:

Industrial Security Door Gates
These steel security gates are designed for normal sized entry doors found in any type of building, including office buildings and portable buildings. They can be left open for both ventilation and light. Easy Rack has sizes to fit all doors, and special custom sizes can be ordered through a material handling specialist to fit less common sizes. Industrial door gates feature a versatile design that allows them to be mounted to lock on either the left or the right for loading dock doorways. Security door gates can be mounted either in the recess of the door frame or on the outside wall adjacent to the doorway. This allows the gate to be folded and swung to the side like a pivot to move it out of the way when it is not being used.

Single Industrial security gates
These gates consist of a single lattice of steel to cover the entrance to any number of commercial doorways and building access points. Single folding security gates ship standard to lock on the left side, but they can easily be custom ordered to lock on the right side. The center drop pin reinforces the unit and provides a sturdy barrier against intrusion.

Double Industrial Security Gates
Based upon the same design as single units, double gates are simply two steel lattices connecting together in the center. This allows either side or both sides to be swung completely 180 degrees out of the way when not in use. These are ideal industrial steel security gates to use in front of entrances that have heavy vehicle traffic, such as fork trucks, pallet trucks, pickups, and vans.

Portable Industrial Security Gates
These gates are ideal for construction environments when doorways that have been cut but not yet completely constructed. They provide movable security, and when they are folded up they are only 6.5’ high…small enough to fit through a standard door opening, and compact enough to be stored out of site. Portable security gates are easy to install and lock to the wall with a sample padlock hasp arrangement that comes included in your order.
