Masonry Equipment

Masonry equipment is an essential component of inventory for any construction crew that is building a structure that is 65% brick or more. Masonry equipment is most commonly found in the residential construction market.

Heavy Duty Forklift Mortar Buggies

One of the problems that brick and block masonry contractors constantly have to deal with is the constant need to retemper mortar that has dried out.  Shallow pans are much longer and wider than they are deep, and evaporation occurs relatively quickly due to the large surface area combined with a lack of depth.  Easy Rack mortar tubs save brick and block masons a great deal of time and money by preserving mortar longer and minimizing time lost in retempering.

Heavy Duty Forklift Mortar TubsBy definition, a mortar tub is a deep mortar box that is designed to be handled with a forklift.  Because it is a deep container rather than a shallow pan, there is less surface area at the top.  With less surface area, you have less evaporation.  Mortar stays longer and does not dry out as it does in a pan.  This represents a tremendous cost saver for construction companies working in Texas and other hot climates.  Labor is more streamlined, and projects are therefore finished more quickly.

Mortar tubs are also much safer to use than pans when working in elevated places.  Multiple mortar pans can quickly add up and consume more room on the scaffold than is convenient or safe.  Because they are so shallow, they are much easier to both trip over and inadvertently kick off the scaffold.  A good many safety hazards can be avoided altogether by using a deeper, more compact container that takes up less total room on the scaffold, holds more product, and therefore has a more stable center of gravity that will hold it in place on the scaffold.  Masons resultantly have more freedom of movement when they use these containers, and they also have more room on the scaffold to arrange their tools.

Another advantage a mortar tub offers is forklift placement.  This helps workers to avoid the back injuries and fall hazards that often result from someone carrying too many tools, or from losing their balance as they try to position a pan by hand.  Letting the forklift driver place a much more stable container in an accessible spot makes it much easier for masons to focus on their jobs rather than having to fiddle with tools and supplies throughout the day.

Mortar tubs are made from durable 10 gauge steel that can withstand the often cramped and difficult environments of scaffold work.  Each unit is also built with reinforced corners that buffer the structure against accidental impact.  One end of the unit is sloped to allow the mason to shovel out the mortar and place it on mortar boards.  The mason can then take the mortar from the boards as needed without excess waste or spillage, and with the remainder of the supply still insulated within the tub.

Forklift mortar tubs are available in two standard sizes.  The smaller container measures 24"W x 22"H x 32"L and weights only 121 lbs.  The larger container measures 24"W x 22"H x 48"L and weights 155 lbs.  Both offer masons a more consolidated and efficient form of mortar transport, storage, and retrieval.
