Self Dumping Forklift Buckets

Self-dumping forklift provide a low-cost alternative to front in loaders for the occasional user who only needs loading and hauling work done on an intermittent basis. These forklift attachments slip right over the forks of your truck, transforming your fork lift into a loader into a matter of minutes. The self-dumping bucket does not require you to make any modification whatsoever to your forklift and it needs no hydraulic system for operation.

Self-dumping forklift buckets typically come in three different sizes: ¼, ½, and ¾ cubic feet. They are ideal for loading gravel, hauling dirt, and construction trash cleanup. They are also ideal tools for specialized masonry work and landscaping services. Moving earthworks with a loader might be efficient, but it is also expensive, and some loaders are too large to easily fit into confined areas near trees and gardens. Masonry work is also often performed in between the tight confines of two walls. In these areas, forklift buckets can maneuver much more safely in these tight quarters and take up less space—leaving workers more freedom of movement for manual tasks.

When the day is done, and it is time to clean up, do you really need 10 day labor guys to walk around and pick up trash? Why not have one licensed forklift driver use a self-dumping bucket to haul away piles of rubble, small broken boards, paper trash, ripped up boxes, and discarded containers. This can get the grounds cleaned up by 5PM more quickly and avoid the expense of overtime or the risk of injury that can occur during a simple cleanup op. Consider the value of eliminating excessive day labor costs for the one-time cost of construction cleanup tool that a single licensed fork truck driver can use over and over again.

Self-dumping forklift dirt buckets are also very easy to operate. Forks slip into the bucket support, securing the unit to the forklift while simultaneously allowing the bucket to pivot when the safety lock is disengaged. You can release the bucket from either a seated position or from the ground by using a remote rope release, or you can trigger the bucket while you are seated by using the handle at the back of the unit.

The self-dumping forklift bucket automatically resets itself after being lowered to the ground. The safety mechanism on the bucket prevents it from accidentally releasing its contents when it is being moved over rough ground. Heavy duty components and superb engineering ensure years of reliable performance from this simple—yet highly versatile--forklift attachment.

Forklift Grapple Buckets

What benefit can grapple buckets offer our operation?
Root grapples and grapple buckets enable you to safely and quickly move bulky, hard-to-handle materials easily and securely. Grapple buckets are essential tools in tree removal, land clearing, paving, and construction. Cleanup crews use this heavy construction equipment for loading and piling logs, limbs, and brush.

This is all due to the unique design of the grapple bucket itself, which allows dirt and sand to fall to the ground while larger pieces of wood, rubble, and debris remain in the bucket. The grapple tines on the end of the bucket curve upward to prevent contents from spilling onto the ground and to avoid snagging utility lines and cables that may be lying under piles of debris, limps, and fallen trees.

What can are some things that grapple buckets can be used for?
For one thing, they are the perfect tool for removing roots of trees that have been cut down. This is why they are often called “root grapplers.” These forklift attachments are also good for clearing away debris after demolition work has been done. Excess construction debris is easy to remove with grapple buckets. In areas where storms have devastated foliage, they are essential tools in the cleanup of storm debris. Grapple buckets are important to a number of activities essential to landscaping as are self dumping hoppers. They are used from everything from clearing out brush to moving earthworks.

What are the most significant features of grapple buckets?
One of the most important components of any grapple bucket and forklift attqachments is a set of hydraulic cylinders that allows the bucket to flexibility adjust itself to the diameter, circumference, and unequal weight distribution of cumbersome and uneven loads. These cylinders keep the unit from becoming too heavy and creating a safety hazard and it helps extend the life of the unit. To keep wear and tear to minimum on your material handling equipment, hydraulic cylinders, hoses, and fittings are protected with covers. Every pivot point is lubricated to maintain flexibility and avoid stress to moving parts. Cutting edges are punched so an optional bolt-on blade can be fitted securely to the grapple bucket. Additional tines can also be added if the space between existing tines is too small. This makes it easier to move piles of rubble or in landscaping work where a large amount of leaves, twigs, and other small trash items have to gripped firmly to avoid spillage.

Do we need a demolition grade grapple bucket?
You do if you are fitting a grapple bucket attachment to a “track” style skid steer, 70hp or greater skid steer, or skid steer that is rated at 3,500 lbs. capacity or more.

What features make a demolition grade unit unique?
Demolition grade units offer more capacity for uneven and extremely heavy loads with reinforcement gussets, and reliable performance is ensured by heavier component manufacture throughout. They also feature cylinder hoses routed in an enclosed tube for extra protection.

You can customize these heavy-duty models with end plates that contain loose materials and raised rings that protect grease fittings from damage. Ask one of our representatives about which of these options is best for your next project.

Self Dumping Hoppers

What kinds of fork trucks can self-dumping hoppers are used with?
They can be used as attachments for both standard mast and extendable reach forklifts.

How durable are self-dumping hoppers?
That depends on what they are made from. Construction grade hoppers are made from ¼” and 3/16” steel plates. They can handle thousands of pounds and are ideally suited to the removal of broken up concrete, plaster, brick, particle board, and other debris.

What is unique about the functionality of the Easy Rack self dump hopper?

Easy Rack self-dumping hoppers are manufacture with standard features that make them highly versatile and durable. Every hopper has a safety lock that prevents the hopper from accidentally dumping its contents when it is jostled in route over rugged terrain. It also has a rope release that allows the operator to discharge the unit’s contents when it is elevated. The rope also enables a worker on the ground to empty the unit if necessary. To hold the dumping hopper securely on the forklift, a safety chain keeps the unit from sliding off the forks, and a grab hook keeps the chain out of the way when it is not in use.

Can you customize these hoppers?
Yes. We can add heavy duty casters with 8” diameter polyurethane wheels with roller bearings can be added to the unit. The combination of larger wheels, bearings, and polyurethane itself makes it much easier to move light and medium loads over rough terrain. Casters are bolted to the hopper’s base instead to allow for quick replacement if they become worn or damaged.

Please understand that adding this option will require sacrificing some of the hopper’s strength. Units with steel casters lose approximately 4,000 pounds of weight capacity from this customization. Generally, casters are added for light-duty work and should be ordered only after confirming applicability with a professional.

Can self dumping hoppers be used with cranes?
They most assuredly can be. With a lifting hook welded to each corner of the unit, shackles can then be added to attach slings to the hooks that can be picked up by a crane. Lifting hooks can support both an empty self-dumping hopper and one that is loaded to its full capacity.

Please be aware that whenever hooks are added to a hopper they will not allow the hopper to be discharged while suspended from the crane, but the hopper must be removed and picked up by a fork truck to dump its contents.
