Netting

How many types of commercial nets exist?
There are more types than we can comprehensively address in a single article. Easy Rack categorizes netting by application based upon the most sought after materials and major industry uses. We have nylon nets, mesh nets, personal safety nets, golf driving range nets, cargo nets, protection netting, and barrier netting, just to name a few.

What materials are nets made from?
Netting is made from nylon, polyester, or a new plastic polymer called “polypropylene”, which is extremely strong and resilient.

What industries use netting?
Any type of theme, amusement, or Water Park will have nets around rides and pools to provide safety for park enthusiasts. Parks also use barrier netting to restrict access to certain areas and to direct traffic along certain pathways.

Construction companies use netting for safety, fall protection, and debris containment. Some very large nets are designed to be used as lifts for heavy materials.
Warehousing and distribution centers use netting around mezzanine systems and work platforms to prevent workers and materials from falling to the ground. Factories use them as well as protective boundaries that isolate dangerous equipment.

Both material handling operations and construction crews require safety nets for fall prevention. Not only are these products useful to process flow, they are required in most instances by local, state, and even federal safety regulations.

What is debris containment?
Industrial operations often produce debris and byproducts that fall to the ground. Without something to catch this debris as it falls, workers on the ground are subject to injury, and machinery is subject to damage. Debris containment netting minimizes the risk of injury and damage to persons and property.

Can netting be used to lift industrial materials?
Very powerful nets called cargo nets, or "lift" nets, are often used to do exactly that. They can be attached to a crane or other lifting device and used to safely lift supplies from the floor to mezzanine systems or rooftops.

What is nylon netting still so popular?
Nylon is an ideal material for safety and sports netting. Nylon has 3 times the abrasion resistance of polypropylene and does not rot. In other words, it can take more of a beating in a rough environment. It is also extremely resistant to extremes of heat and cold and holds up very well in humid climates like the American South.

What is mesh netting used for?
Very powerful mesh is used for debris containment and lifting. Very fine mesh is used by a number of commercial and governmental facilities as a security measure. Mesh will allow a small amount of light to shine through, but it will obscure visibility on the other side of the mesh. Mesh netting of this sort can be used as a cheaper substitute for a solid barricade or a costly build out of a new wall.
