Portable Docks

Exactly what are portable docks?
Portable docks are actually steel platforms that are designed for use with yard ramps. They are mostly used in rural or remote construction areas and in agricultural areas where produce is packaged in the field and shipped directly to market.

When were portable docks first used?
Portable docks were first used in the home building industry in upstate New York. Building crews needed a way to quickly unload rail cars and get materials and supplies to the construction site. To trim transportation expenses and save time, they began to lease real estate next to rail yards and section it off to create offloading zones for trucks. Portable docks, dock plates and yard ramps where then brought in to allow fork truck access to rail cars.

What are portable docks used for today?
Portable docks have since found their way into all sorts of on site applications in the construction industry. They also play a very important role in agriculture. Grocers no longer wish to ship produce to packaging facilities because of high fuel costs. It is much more economical to box or palletize produce in the field and load it onto rail cars and refrigerator trucks via portable docks.

Portable docks have also become very popular with companies who are leasing a warehouse or a factory that they are beginning to outgrow. These companies often must either pour concrete to add new dock space, use loading ramps or install portable docks. While the cost of either option may in many cases be equivalent to the other (depending upon the amount of dock space needed and the number of platforms necessary to create it), organizations that invest in portable docks can get a return on their investment by reselling them, or they can keep them and move them to new facilities as they expand.

Can a single platform be used as a portable dock?
Yes, a portable dock can function as a standalone steel platform. However, is much more common to connect several units together and create the equivalent of a concrete dock. The exception to this is rail yards with limited space. In many such environments, fork trucks have to run parallel to rail cars and do not have enough room to turn from the yard ramp into the car. In these instances, a single portable dock at the end of the yard ramp can allow a forklift to make a safe 90 degree turn.

Can portable docks be customized?
Absolutely. Steel platform docks are custom built to the exact height needed by the client. They can be made with either fixed legs or adjustable legs on one or both sides. These units are usually connected together to create a large, outdoor, solid platform. For example, if a client wants a 16X32 dock, 4 or 5 edge of docks mounted, and a yard ramp, we will ship 8 portable docks with a splice plate that overlays the units and creates a single, solid surface.

Yard Ramps

What is a yard ramp?
It is a type of loading dock ramp that allows a forklift to enter a shipping containers or truck trailer in from a facility that lacks an elevated loading dock or it allows a forklift to move from an elevated dock onto the ground. Pneumatic wheels on the ramp allows it to be moved into place by fork trucks, and hydraulic pumps built into the unit enable workers to position it at the precise height of a truck trailer bed, rail car, or loading dock.

What features to Easy Rack yard ramps have?
All commercial ramps (both dock to ground and ground to truck) are manufactured with an all steel welded construction. Weight capacities vary from 16,000 to 60,000 pounds and a wide range of length and width sizes available. Serrated grating gives the ramp excellent traction and prevents water, snow, oil, grease and miscellaneous debris from building up. The lower end approach plate provides maximum support and smooth transition onto the ramp grating surface. Heavy-duty formed steel side girders provide main load-bearing capability, and deep side members prevent forklift runoff.

What are yard ramps used for?
Yard ramps are essential for any warehouse or factory that was built without an elevated dock ramp. They allow work crews to bridge the gap between the building and the trailer and safely move supplies off the truck by forklifts. This is much more convenient, quicker, and more cost effective than unloading and loading containers by hand. In other cases, however, the reverse may be true. A building with a large outdoor stockyard may require a forklift to move from the loading dock onto the ground to either retrieve or organize supplies outdoors. This is often seen in shipyards and rail yards, and it requires a dock to ground ramp to allow vehicles to safely move from the dock to the yard.

How do I know what size yard ramp to choose?
The size of the ramp you purchase will depend upon a number of factors relative to the weight of the heaviest forklift and the heaviest load being moved along the ramp. Easy Rack recommends you select a unit that is three times the rated capacity of the lift truck it supports. Rail yards require a 36’ unit that includes a level off. Standard dock to ground units typically measure 30’ straight. When deciding on the width of the yard ramp to use, it should always be 15” wider than the widest equipment moved along its surface.

Can yard ramps be customized?
Yes. In fact, we recommend that any organization working multiple shifts and who are moving a wide variety of material types and equipment contact a specialist to discuss additional components that can be used to increase the stability, safety, and functionality of these units. These customization options include, but are not limited to, safety chains, ramp clamps, and tow bars.

Dockboards

Loading ramps are metal boards and plates that bridge the gap between a building or dock and a truck bed. Mobile loading ramps are used in every industry and in every market place. They are common in agriculture, military factories, building, warehousing, and distribution. They are designed to make loading and unloading of trucks as fast and as safe as possible. Some loading ramps are designed specifically for rail cars, but the majority of these ramps are made for trucks and trailer beds. In certain situations, specialty loading dock equipment such as wheel risers and steel platforms may also need to maximize safety and process flow.

Dockboards
Dock Boards are loading ramps that bridge the gap between the dock and the truck to make loading and unloading safe. Dockboards are designed to handle power equipment like fork trucks. They have curbs on the sides to prevent vehicle runoffs and to provide additional structure and capacity. Because they must support vehicles as well as products and workers, most models are made of heavy duty steel, although Easy Rack also supplies lightweight aluminum models when appropriate and necessary. Capacities range from 6,000 to 40,000 lbs.

Dock Plates Aluminum
A / B Plates made are manual loading ramps made from high grade "diamond deck" aluminum. Although they closely resemble dockboards, never confuse the two. Aluminum dockboards or dock plates are designed for hand trucks and pallet jacks only.

Edge-of-Dock Levelers
These loading ramps are designed for high use docks that were originally constructed without pit mounted levelers. They are ideal for fork truck traffic that is from 5” below dock level to 5” above dock level. LTL and truck traffic also go much faster with levelers in place. Molded bumpers and a mechanical spring operation take the heavy work out of the lifting. This unique design also helps ensure the unit is correctly positioned each time it is used.

Steel Yard Ramps
These loading ramps are used for loading trucks from the ground, either because there is no truck high dock present, or because there are more trucks than docks. Yard ramps are portable and can be towed with a forklift. A hydraulic pump allows the height of the yard ramp to be adjusted, and deep side members prevent forklift runoff.

Mini Loading Ramps
These loading ramps offer an economical solution when the target height is ½ or less that of normal dock heights (generally 33” or less). Capacities start at 12,000 lbs and range upward. The mini ramp can be ordered with an optional mobility package that eliminates the need for a hydraulic actuated undercarriage to move the unit. Minis can be used with manual equipment and fork trucks. Capacities start at 12,000 lbs with standard and custom sizes available.

Hook & Apron Walkramps
These aluminum loading ramps are designed for foot traffic, hand trucks, and pallet jacks moved by hand. Standard lengths run from 3' to 16'and two widths of 29" or 39".

Wheel Riser Dockboards
If the dock is too high for incoming trucks, wheel risers fit under truck wheels so the bed can be positioned properly above dock for safer and faster loading.

Steel Dockboard Platforms
Steel dockboard platforms allow facilities to enlarge their dock areas installing platforms incrementally one at a time or by ganging them together to expand dock space significantly.

Industrial Shelving

Almost any balanced container, product, or item can be stored on an industrial shelf. Just as long as the object has a flat bottom, it will safely balance on the supporting shelf. Round containers can also be stored on industrial shelves provided they have a sufficient diameter on both ends that will allow the cylinder to rest securely on its end.

Used industrial shelves are available in all sizes, designs, and weight capacities. Light weight shelves are often used in offices. Medium duty and heavy duty models are used in warehousing, shipping/receiving, and automotive service industries. Industrial shelves tend to pay for themselves in a relatively short amount of time. By converting unused space into storage areas, they reduce the likelihood that an organization will have to spend money on relocation or an expansion. They also make it much easier for workers to access products and supplies and expedite process flow safely and efficiently.

Different industrial shelf systems are used for different types of environments. 18 gauge and 20 gauge closed back industrial shelves will easily support 400-450 lbs in weight and are commonly used for storing boxes in stockrooms. Smaller, open-backed shelves and other used commercial shelving are utilized used by office managers to store important documents, tax work, and office supplies. Larger industrial shelves can hold up to 2,000 pounds in weight and are used for medium level storage of heavier crates and machine parts.

When choosing industrial shelving units, keep three things in mind:
  1. The first thing to keep in mind is safety. When storing extremely heavy items and large containers, always invest in shelving whose weight capacity exceeds the total weight of items. Maxing out a brand new shelving system is never a good idea. A worker probably will not be aware of that a shelf already contains all it can handle and inadvertently add additional weight beyond safe limits.
  2. The second thing to keep in mind is accessibility. If workers need to retrieve items from the front of the shelf only, closed back industrial shelving offer a sturdy, cabinet like design build for stability and security (the units can be shut and locked at night if necessary). If the materials that are stored are not that sensitive, or if workers need to access them from any angle at will, open ended systems work well for this task.
  3. Keep perspective in mind as well. The dimensions of a shelf are not true indicators of the actual interior, usable storage space. To make certain every square cubic inch pays you back for your investment, talk to your material handling specialist about usable storage space, weight capacity, accessibility, and methods of ensuring the unit remains stable and secure in every conceivable scenario.
Easy Rack sells a full selection of small, mid-sized, and heavy duty steel industrial warehouse shelving systems. We sell both new equipment and used equipment, including long span units that can run along an entire warehouse wall. If cost is an issue, we recommend investing in used equipment. Our procurement and drop shipping network can locate a quality used industrial shelf of any model at a discount of up to 40%.

Netting

How many types of commercial nets exist?
There are more types than we can comprehensively address in a single article. Easy Rack categorizes netting by application based upon the most sought after materials and major industry uses. We have nylon nets, mesh nets, personal safety nets, golf driving range nets, cargo nets, protection netting, and barrier netting, just to name a few.

What materials are nets made from?
Netting is made from nylon, polyester, or a new plastic polymer called “polypropylene”, which is extremely strong and resilient.

What industries use netting?
Any type of theme, amusement, or Water Park will have nets around rides and pools to provide safety for park enthusiasts. Parks also use barrier netting to restrict access to certain areas and to direct traffic along certain pathways.

Construction companies use netting for safety, fall protection, and debris containment. Some very large nets are designed to be used as lifts for heavy materials.
Warehousing and distribution centers use netting around mezzanine systems and work platforms to prevent workers and materials from falling to the ground. Factories use them as well as protective boundaries that isolate dangerous equipment.

Both material handling operations and construction crews require safety nets for fall prevention. Not only are these products useful to process flow, they are required in most instances by local, state, and even federal safety regulations.

What is debris containment?
Industrial operations often produce debris and byproducts that fall to the ground. Without something to catch this debris as it falls, workers on the ground are subject to injury, and machinery is subject to damage. Debris containment netting minimizes the risk of injury and damage to persons and property.

Can netting be used to lift industrial materials?
Very powerful nets called cargo nets, or "lift" nets, are often used to do exactly that. They can be attached to a crane or other lifting device and used to safely lift supplies from the floor to mezzanine systems or rooftops.

What is nylon netting still so popular?
Nylon is an ideal material for safety and sports netting. Nylon has 3 times the abrasion resistance of polypropylene and does not rot. In other words, it can take more of a beating in a rough environment. It is also extremely resistant to extremes of heat and cold and holds up very well in humid climates like the American South.

What is mesh netting used for?
Very powerful mesh is used for debris containment and lifting. Very fine mesh is used by a number of commercial and governmental facilities as a security measure. Mesh will allow a small amount of light to shine through, but it will obscure visibility on the other side of the mesh. Mesh netting of this sort can be used as a cheaper substitute for a solid barricade or a costly build out of a new wall.

Easy Rack carries a wide variety of commercial & industrial netting, used pallet racks, commercial shelving, material handling equipment, commercial lighting, and modular prefab buildings installed nationwide. Steel Shelving

Used commercial steel shelves transform interior walls and vertical air space into organized, safe, efficient storage space. The improvement this consolidation brings to organizations facing an imminent move is often leads to the move being canceled and a large amount of money being saved. Additional savings come soon afterwards as employees find materials and supplies faster and finish their jobs in less time. Keeping accurate tabs on inventory becomes easier, which in turn averts over purchasing and often uncovers opportunities for tax breaks.

Easy rack steel shelves are manufactured from the highest commercial grade steel and can be ordered in either new or used condition. Steel shelves of this caliber will withstand extreme temperatures and sudden climatic changes in any region of the country. Commercial grade metal protectors further ensure that shelving systems withstand the elements any time the bay doors to warehouses are open and units become exposed to the outside air.

Industrial clients can obtain steel shelving systems in a number of different strengths, sizes, and design builds to accommodate any factory, warehouse, storage room, office, or even retail facility.

Open-backed shelving
As the name indicates, there an open-backed shelf is either open to the air or an adjacent wall. It is made from a steel frame that supports the individual shelves. The strength of an open-backed system is determined by the gauge of steel from which it is constructed. Larger, industrial strength units are used to store boxes and crates that require immediate access from the front, back, or sides of the shelf. Smaller shelving units are often used in to store bins containing office supplies or files of paperwork for inventory and tax purposes.

Closed-backed shelving
These steel shelves are closed on both sides and the back by steel plates. The entire unit can be closed shut and locked together for security purposes, or it can be opened and pushed against a wall. Closed back steel shelves units companies the stability of a design very similar to a cabinet but with much greater resistance to wear and tear and a much greater capacity to support heavy loads.

Both open-backed systems and closed-back systems are powder-coated with iron phosphate and painted with baked on enamel that prevents corrosion and buffers them against occasional collisions. These shelving units can also be used to build industrial shelving systems by bolting the bottom of one unit to the top of another with adjustable clips. This form of customization is known as “box shelving” and can create storage systems that can support up to 2,000 pounds in weight.

Long-Span & Wide-Span Shelving
These are the heaviest duty steel shelving systems found in the industrial world. They are designed extra long and can be connected together end-to-end to transform an entire factory or warehouse wall into storage space.

Wide span and long span shelves are made from 24-gauge steel and are designed to support up to 35,000 lbs. in weight. Surprisingly, though, they are not always used for heavy-duty storage. Many auto parts stores, tire an lube service centers, and hardware stores often use wide span units to store products, paperwork, reference materials, and product manuals behind the front counter.

Wide span shelves are supported by steel beams built around a two-piece design that increases the unit’s center of gravity and enables it to support a greater amount of weight without tipping or buckling from normal use or even the occasional accidental impact.

Shelving Units

Shelving units offer you a more efficient and safe means of storing products and materials that streamlines your process flow with greater time efficiency. This immediately benefits any organization currently spending too much money on overtime. Companies that invest in shelving units often discover they have a lot more space than they originally thought, and reconsider future plans to expand or move to a new location. Eliminating the cost of an impending move is an excellent way to avoid losing oneʼs shirt in the middle of a recession, and having the proper material storage tools on hand to store equipment, products, and supplies greatly reduces the risk of injury when things are not properly placed and secured in a facility. All of these benefits spell ROI and recession proofing for the warehouse or factory in todayʼs economy.

Shelving systems by Easy Rack are available in all sizes and industrial strengths and can be used to store almost any item or container that has a flat bottom surface. A shelving unitʼs ability to balance a load is just as important is its ability to support a load. The majority of 18 gauge and 20 gauge steel systems can easily support 400-450 lbs in weight. The model you choose should be determined by the width and girth of the items you will be storing. The wider the crate or box, the wider the shelf needs to be to evenly balance and distribute the weight. The best place to install such a industrial shelving unit is right next to a warehouse or stockroom wall; preferably at the intersection of a corner so one side of the unit has additional support from the second wall. Some shelving units are so large they can be used to fill an entire wall and turn unused vertical cube space into storage space. Other very compact models can be offices to store paperwork and office supplies.

If you are storing very heavy equipment, parts, or heavy crates, you will need one or more used industrial strength shelving units. Heavy duty shelves of this nature are often used to organize and maintain inventories of large machine parts stored in crates and large metal containers containing chemicals or other supplies. As a general rule of principle, always overestimate the amount of weight capacity you will need for heavy duty storage. Steel shelving units can and will become unstable if their weight capacity is inadvertently maxed out. Simply adding a few items to the inventory without knowing how much weight is already pressing down on the system can cross the threshold of safety. The biggest danger here is not so much the shelves themselves buckling downward under the weight, but the system becoming top-heavy and prone to tip forward.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you will need an open backed shelving unit or a closed backed model. If the system is to be placed against a wall so you can retrieve items from the front, a long span shelves or closed back commercial shelving unit offers you maximum stability by resting part of its weight against the wall and minimizing the risk of tipping. If the items you are storing, however, are not that heavy and the risk of tipping is minimal, an open backed shelving unit offers you the convenience of retrieving materials from the front, back, or sides of the unit. Open backed or rivet shelves are common in assembly line environments where a team of people has to retrieve smaller parts from a series of storage compartments continually throughout the day.

Consider as well that shelving dimensions refer to the total LXWXH measurements of the steel components, not the actual interior storage space. Be sure to check with your material handling specialist first to see exactly how much cubic space you will need in your new shelving unit. It might be necessary to purchase the next size up, or arrange for a custom unit to be built, in order to fully meet your material storage and handling needs.

Collapsible Gates

Collapsible gates provide security, ventilation and visibility for dock doors, lift-up doors, hallways and entrance ways. Collapsible gates are used in a wide range of commercial and industrial environments, including manufacturing and warehouse facilities, retail and distribution centers, schools, hospitals, health care institutions, and office buildings.

Collapsible gates are made of 3/4" wide 14 gauge steel channel that is riveted back to back. The upright gate rails are made from hot rolled angle iron, and drop pins in the center of the gate give the middle section of the unit added strength and stability that prevent it from being pushed in or bent downward from the top.

Easy Rack gates come in four standard model types and can be customized to fit uncommonly sized access points. Every gate includes a locking bar and will pivot 180 degrees pivot out of the way when not in use.

Collapsible Door Gates
Door gates are designed to fit over door openings that measure 24" to 48" wide and 61" to 83" high. Collapsible door gates feature a reversible hinge design that allows them to be mounted on either the left or right side. You can mount them either in the casing itself or on the facing of the door opening.

Single Collapsible Gates
These one-piece gates are designed to fit openings 4-1/2ʼ X 7-1/2ʼ wide and up to 8ʼ in height. They are commonly used to provide security over commercial and industrial bay doors, garage doors, and warehouse doors. Single collapsible door gates are engineered to lock on the left side, but you can order them custom made to lock on the right side if necessary. Like door gates, single collapsible gates can mount either over the doorway itself or over the door casing. The lead rail of the gate features a ball bearing caster that allows for smooth extension and retraction of the gate.

Double Collapsible Gates
These two-piece gates can fit apertures measuring up to 10ʼ in height. They are used extensively in warehousing and manufacturing environments where building entrances have to be designed not only to permit human foot traffic, but vehicle traffic as well. Easy Rack can custom order these gates to fit any size width, including dock doors and overhead doors. Both sides of the gate will pivot a full 180 degrees outward to the side to permit material handling equipment and vehicle traffic. Double collapsible gates lock together in the middle with a standard padlock. For gates that will be installed inside a dock door, extended brackets can be ordered to keep gates back and out of the way of overhead doors.

Portable Collapsible Gates
Portable gates are ideal for construction sites and for use inside schools and hospitals where certain areas need to be restricted at certain times of day. In schools after hours, portable collapsible gates can be used to block off hallways and cafeteria areas. Hospitals can use them to restrict access to intensive care areas, laboratories, and other sensitive parts of the building.

Construction crews routinely use portable collapsible gates to stand in doorways and hallways of buildings that are still under construction, and to limit access to potentially dangerous areas and places where sensitive materials and equipment are being stored.

Portable gates collapse to 6 X 6.5ʼ when not in use and can be stored in closets or portable buildings when not in use.

Keep in mind that all gates drop approximately one inch in height when expanded. Be sure to take this into account when ordering your product to ensure that the expanded gate properly fits the vertical height of your doorway. Door Security Gates

Doors do not always succeed in barring access to unauthorized personnel. Intruders can enter almost any door with enough determination. Door security gates add a layer of security to buildings that need to restrict or prohibit access through one or more of its doors. They are made from a folding lattice of sturdy ¾”channel that expands and covers the entrance to the doorway, and they can be mounted either in the casing or the facing of the door opening.

Folding security gates are designed to restrict access to door openings ranging between 24” and 48” in width and 61” to 83” in height. Door security gates feature a reversible hinge design that allows them to be mounted to either the left side or the right side of the doorway. When opened, they will pivot a full 180 degrees to allow safe and convenient access to the building. Each door security gate includes a locking bar to secure the unit and block unauthorized access and/or intrusion.

Almost any building can benefit from a metal security door gate. Small boutiques and convenience stores top this list because deliveries usually come through a door in the back of the business that can be easily broken if additional security measures are not taken. Having a gate on the door can discourage burglars looking for an easy target, and it can also possibly qualify a business for an insurance break if the carrier recognizes the value in added security. Convenience stores and gas stations also can use these gates to secure doorways to garage areas, storage areas, and private offices. This not only protects property, but also human life, because many convenience stores and gas stations stay open 24 hours a day, and whoever is on duty is most vulnerable to a burglary through the rear of the building. Adding a security door gate is something every 24 hour facility should strongly consider as a precaution against theft and violent crime. Industrial facilities can also use steel security gates on doors that lead to restricted areas. Because these gates are controlled by padlocks, it is a simple matter to issue a key to only those who need to be in that part of the building.

Installing security door gates is simple. You simply stand the folded gate against the door frame and mark the mounting surface through the holes in the hinge bar. It works best if you use 5/16 X 2” lag bolts if you are mounting it with wood. If you are mounting the door security gate with steel, drill and tap for 5/16 X 2” lag bolts in 3/8” holes. Then, drill appropriately sized holes in the mounting surface, and then mount the gate by inserting the screws through the hinge bar. Once you have the security door gate securely mounted, stretch it across the opening and line up the padlock hole in the locking bar with the padlock hole in the gate. Next, mark the mounting holes of the locking bar with a pen or pencil, drill the holes, and mount the locking bar with screws. Now the security door gate is ready to be pulled shut, and locked with a padlock.

Metal Security Gates

Easy Rack manufacturers the "Classic" design of folding metal security gate that has stood the test of time and proven its durability and reliability. Our folding metal gates and safety barriers are manufactured from 3/4" wide 14 gauge steel channel that is riveted back to back with solid steel rivets. Solid rivets give each gate the necessary strength to endure stress and perform reliably for years. Gate rails are made from 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/8" thick hot rolled angle iron that resists abuse and last longer than thinner alternatives. Drop pins are made of 5/8" round rod and all casters are steel. We thoroughly coat each metal security gate with black enamel paint.

Metal security gates barricade access points and create restricted areas for security and safety purposes. Made out of a strong, impenetrable lattice of 14-gauge channel steel, a metal security gate cannot be pushed or broken down. Because the lattice is technically mostly empty space, however, it provides clear visibility for surveillance, and it allows for building ventilation of fumes and excess heat.

There are four basic model designs of metal security gates that Easy Rack currently provides: single gates, double gates, door gates, and portable gates. Single and Double gates are mounted on hinge pins that allow you to swing them to the side like a doorway. The center of the gate is reinforced by a drop pin that prevents it from caving in when pushed either from the center or the top. This design makes the unit both durable and vandal resistant.

Metal Security Door Gates
These gates are intended to limit access to normal sized doors in commercial and industrial buildings. . Easy Rack has sizes that will fit all doors and will manufacture custom-sized gates on request. Metal security door gates offer industrial clients a versatile design that allows them to be mounted to lock on either the left or the right. Metal security door gates will mount on either the door frame recess or the outer wall surrounding the door frame. Either mounting option will allow the gate to be folded and swung to the side when it is not in use.

Single Metal security gates
These gates are made out of a single steel lattice and cover the entrance to any number of larger commercial doorways, such as bay doors or garage type doors. Standard locking position is on the left side, but custom ordered right side locking gates can be requested through your Easy Rack representative. To keep the gate from losing its center, single metal security gates feature a drop pin in the center which provides added stability in wider openings.

Double Metal Security Gates
Just as the name states, double metal security gates are two steel lattices connecting together in the center. This allows both sides to be swung completely 180 degrees out of the way when necessary. These are ideal metal security gates to use in front of dock entrances that have heavy vehicle traffic, such as fork trucks, pallet trucks, pickups, and vans.

Portable Metal Security Gates
These gates are used a great deal in construction environments. They provide portable security, and when they are folded up they are only 6.5ʼ high, they are small enough to fit through a standard door opening, and compact enough to be stored out of site. Portable metal security gates are easy to install and lock to the wall with a sample padlock hasp arrangement that comes included in your order.

Folding Security Gates

Folding Security Gates limit access to buildings and passageways without blocking ventilation or obstructing visibility. Warehouses and factories often use folding security gates to protect building entrances, bay doors, docks, and rear entrances to plants. Educational facilities and medical care institutions also use them to restrict building access after normal working hours. Homes and offices can also benefits from folding security gates when extra security measures are desired and determined appropriate.

The classic folding gate design is that of an interlocking lattice of steel, riveted back to back to provide a sturdy barrier against intrusion and to withstand exposure to environmental elements. Standard sizes offered by Easy Rack from 4-1/2' wide by 5-1/2' high single gates to 16' wide by 8-1/2' high double gates. Door gates are made for door openings between 24” to 48” wide in heights from 61” to 83”. Portable gates are available in sizes 6 and 12 feet wide. Easy Rack will also provide custom size single and double security folding gates up to 10’ high.

Folding Security Door Gates
These gates are made to secure door openings ranging from 24" to 48" wide and 61" to 83" high. They feature a unique reversible hinge design that allows them to be mounted to either the right side or the left side of the doorway in either the casing or the face of the opening. Each folding security door gate includes with a locking bar that can be secured with a padlock. When not in use, the gate will pivot 180 degrees out of the way when open.

Single Folding Security Gates
These one piece gates are manufactured for standard openings, patio doors, garages, and industrial and commercial entrances measuring 4-1/2' to 7-1/2' wide and up to 8' in height. Single folding security gates are shipped assembled to lock on the left (default position), but an Easy Rack specialist can have them manufactured to lock on the right side. A ball bearing caster, welded to the lead rail of the gate, is used to aid in the extension and retraction of the gate. Like door gates, single gates will pivot 180 degrees when not in use. To compensate from the loss of structure when the gate is stretched open, a drop pin holds the center of the gate in place.

Double Folding Security Gates
These gates are needed for larger openings, overhead doors, dock doors, storefronts, and bay doors in factories and warehouses. These two-piece gates can be custom fitted to any size width, and a maximum height of 10'. Because they are Double Folding Gates, each side will swing 180 degrees out of the way, allowing the gates to be used with dock and overhead doors in industrial facilities that need an unobstructed passage for vehicles and material handling equipment to pass through.

Portable Folding Security Gates
These gates are very frequently used in public schools and hospitals to seal off hallways, cafeteria areas, and sensitive areas within the building. Electric Heavy Duty Hydraulic Scissor Lifts

Heavy Duty electro hydraulic scissor lifts rank among the most powerful material handling tools Easy Rack carries. These products are needed for loads weighing from 15,000 LB up to 120,000 LB. Like all scissor lifts, electro hydraulic units are intended to keep heavy materials at a stable, consistent elevation for safe access and efficient operations to be performed. They are frequently used by telephone companies, lumber companies, and air craft engine companies to elevate materials for manipulation, moving, or service work.

Oftentimes electro hydraulic scissor lifts are buried in the ground and used to facilitate the unloading an loading of tractor trailers. Two hydraulic scissor lifts will be spaced apart at the exact same distance as the front and rear wheels on a tractor/trailer. The lift will be flush to the ground when it is the elevated position. When the truck is ready for loading, it will be “parked” with both sets of wheels centered on either electro hydraulic lift. The lift tables will then be lowered, locking the truck in place and making the trailer bed flush to the ground.

This allows work crews to drive fork trucks directly into the trailer without it wobbling to either side. Workers can also move barrels and containers that hold sensitive materials and flammable liquids safely into the trailer with minimal risk of spillage or injury. Nuclear power plants often use electro hydraulic scissor lifts to secure trucks that are used to haul off nuclear wastes.

Of course, electro hydraulic scissor lifts are not always buried in this fashion. Many times they are used to elevate heavy engines in tractor companies to work platforms where technicians and welders can work from a standing position rather than having to work from a ladder, or actually climb on top of the engine and risk a fall. The larger the lift; the more weight it will safely elevate, and the higher it can be raised.

Because these machines are extremely heavy duty and engineered for maximum strength and stability, they have a design safety factor of 3 to 1. Each electrohydraulic lift features an externally powered motor ranging from 5 to 15 hp, depending on the lift model and size. Motors are controlled from an up/down push button control on the end of a 20 ft cord. Each motor includes an adjustable upper travel limit switch that automatically shuts off the motor and pump at the desired pre-set height. Two secondary, mechanical upper travel back-up stops provide an additional safeguard against over extension.

If necessary, workers can also stand on hydraulic scissor lifts safety. The man lift platforms are supported by rectangular structural tube scissor legs and torque tubes that maintain maximum horizontal and longitudinal stability and minimize deflection when the unit is supporting huge loads and/or workers. Toe guards along the edges of the platform provide a standard, yet very important, safety buffer against accidental slips and falls.

Heavy duty scissor lifts are built with a number of additional safety and mechanical features that are engineered to ensure stability, safe operation, durability under extreme stress for long periods of time, and reliable performance of all unit components for the duration of the unit’s lifespan.

Easy Rack specializes in material handling equipment including all forms of Scissor Lift Work Tables.

Welding Hose Reels

Welding hoses and cables have to be managed with a special type of hose reel. Welding hose reels and cable reels that are designed specifically to safeguard your investment in expensive hoses and cable by buffering against wear and ensuring performance for the duration of hose and cable life span. Most heavy duty hose reel models offer multiple sized units made for different environments and unique characteristics for support, hose management, retraction, safety, and versatility in application.

Motor-Driven Welding Hose Reels
Motorized reels can be ordered in either heavy duty models or lightweight models. The heavy duty electric driven hose reels feature a direct bevel gear drive, low profile outlet riser, open drum slot, and dual brass swivel inlets that will ensure smooth and steady hands free retrieval of your welding hose. The lightweight unit is intended to be a compact and versatile, smaller version of the heavy duty unit. It is build around a “U” shaped frame and all steel construction to provide additional safety and stability.

Both models can also be obtained in manual, hand crank retraction if necessary.

Hand Crank Welding Hose Reels
Hand crank reels are built around the same general design as the heavy duty welding hose reel and are used in industrial environments where external power may not yet be available, such as new construction sites and off site outdoor locations.

Spring Driven Welding Hose Reels
When your hands are full, and you cannot use a hand crank reel, spring driven welding hose reels combine the convenience of automatic retrieval with the freedom from external power sources.

These spring driven reels are manufactured to manage bulky twin line welding hose. Two sizes are available. Standard size welding hose reels are compact and engineered for operations in crowded facilities. Larger units are built for more spacious facilities where extra capacity is needed for exceptionally long lengths of welding hose. This larger model features a proprietary dual axle support system that keeps the unit stable during retraction use and minimizes vibration during use.

Welding Hose Reels with Spring Driven Safety Retraction
In some facilities, static buildup can be hazardous due to the combustibility of nearby fuel, chemicals, or fumes in the air. If you are working in such an environment, it is necessary to use hose reels that are built to eliminate static buildup. This is done using a special spring-driven retraction mechanism that has been modified to turn the hub at only 20% the normal rate of speed than standard model reels, and to end the retraction cycle gently without slamming the last bit of hose onto the reel.

These industrial welding hose reels, like many other spring driven units, also feature super hub, dual axle support to maintain stability and rigidity while in use. Both compact and standard sized reels are available.

Welding Cable Reels
Welding cable is costly, and not something you want to replace because of careless handling or accidents. Protect your investment with 25, 35, or 50 foot self-retracting welding cable reel. These units are intended to help maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment at all times and feature internal components set inside the drum to allow for a narrower, compact coil on the reel. They can also accommodate an optional stacking bracket to create a lead/ground combination when required and are available in hand crank or motorized retraction.

Many of these reels can be further customized with any number of accessories. Call an Easy Rack specialist now to see what options are available for metal hose reels.

Industrial Hose Reels

Commercial hose reels are one of the best material handling investments you can make. A great deal of the heavy machinery that you use requires pressurized water or air to operate. Some of these devices also require exceptionally high voltage power that can be delivered only through very large diameter, heavily insulated power cords. Because such hoses are very heavy and cumbersome to lift and carry, it is not advisable from a safety or ergonomics perspective to carry, extend, and retrieve them manually without an industrial hose reel.

It only takes 25 lbs of force applied at the wrong angle to injure a workerʼs back, which is a liability you do not want. Also, dragging hoses around the floor or across a construction site will eventually wear on the hose and lead to replacement costs you shouldn'tʼt have to waste more money on.

Industrial hose reels eliminate the risk of injury and damage to heavy industrial cords and pressure hoses with large diameters. Commercial hose reels are manufactured and sold in different sizes based upon the size and nature of the hose or cord they are being used for. They are further divided into four categories based upon the retraction mechanism they utilize to retrieve the hose after use. Because it takes one hand to guide the hose onto a commercial reel, category selection should be based upon workload, ergonomics, and type of industrial environment the hose reel is used in.

Hand Crank Hose Reels
When an employee has both hands free, one hand can crank the hose onto the reel, and the other hand can guide it. Generally these reels are designed for long, large capacity industrial hoses with up to 4,000 PSI.

Motor Driven Hose Reels
Motor driven reels are used with hoses ranging from 200PSI to 10,000 PSI and are recommended for environments where the worker has only one hand free to guide the hose onto the spool.

Spring Driven Hose Reels
Spring driven models do not require an external power source to operate. Easy Rack carries spring driven industrial reels for air hoses, oil hoses, grease hoses, hydraulic hoses, vacuum hoses, and oxy acetylene hoses. We also have spring driven cable reel for welding equipment in both stainless steel and aluminum models.

EZ-Coil Commercial Hose Reel
These spring driven commercial hose reels retract at only 20% the speed of other spring driven models. They are intended for use in combustible environments it is unsafe to operate a motor or electrically driven hose reel for risk that a spark may cause an explosion.

Electric Cord and Cable Reels
These commercial reels are engineered specifically for retractable Extension Cord Reels, Hand Crank Welding Reels, and Static Discharge Grounding.

Because there are so many models available in each industrial hose reel series, it is important to narrow your selection and buy a unit that is the closest match to your requirements. The following five principles are recommended when making your selection.

We also suggest that you follow the following guidelines when selecting an industrial hose reel products for your facility.

1. Choose your reel based on hose I.D., O.D., and Length
2. Compare the size of your hose to the inlet and outlet sizes on the reel.
3. Decide on the safest and most ergonomic method of retraction.
4. Determine where to mount the hose.
5. Choose the type of hose you will be using.
6. Customize your commercial hose reel.

Even after choosing what you think might be a near perfect match to your industrial requirements, it may be possible to customize the hose reel further to meet the exact specifications of your process flow. Ask a material handling specialist at Easy Rack to see what customization options are available, or to make certain you have decided on the safest, most ergonomic, and most efficient hose reel possible.

Automatic & Auto-Rewind Hose Reels

Auto rewind hose reels are spring-driven reels engineered for static discharge. They do not require an external power source to operate. Automatic hose reels featured a patented controlled retraction that operates up to 80% slower than standard spring driven reels. This eliminates the slamming action at the end of the retraction cycle, making operation safer for the worker and prolonging the life of the unit.

Different mounting options are available for a variety of industrial environments, along with automatic hose reels specifically engineered for certain types of hoses and applications. Before purchasing an automatic hose reel, we recommend you carefully look over the following and talk to an Easy Rack specialist about the features, advantages, and benefits that each series line offers. Particularly in flammable atmospheres, it is vital to choose the best auto rewind reel specifically designed for the size and length of the hose or cord you need it for, and for the general work area you will be using it in.

Side Mount Hose Reels
Most auto rewind hose reels are designed to mount on the ceiling or the floor. Some applications, however, require compact, side mount hose reels that can be easily installed and detached from a number of work environments. These auto rewind reels feature 360 degree hose direction that allows the user to operate the reel from any position necessary. This makes them excellent tools to use with air/water service units, tool benches, tool boxes, vertical walls and beams, vehicle lift systems, machine tools, service vehicles, any flat vertical surface that requires a hose reel for efficient distribution and retraction of a hose.

Welding Hose Reels
Easy Rack also carries welding hose reels with auto rewind capability. These units are excellent tools for handling bulky twin line welding hoses. The size of your automatic welding hose reel depends on the length of the welding hose you will be working with. Shorter lengths work well with compact units. Exceptionally long welding hoses require bigger automatic rewind reels with dual axle support built around a larger chassis and frame.

Power Cord Reels
Power cord reels prevent extensions cords from tangling. They are designed for durable, reliable use in a wide variety of manufacturing and heavy duty industrial environments and are a must have for organizations who cannot afford the safety hazard or downtime that can result from tripping over a power cord or accidentally pulling the cord from a power source during critical operations.

The same holds true for gardeners who are tired of tangled hoses and would like a professional garden hose reel.

Static Discharge Cable Reels - Hazardous Locations
In highly combustible environments such as chemical plants, refineries, and weapons factories, a single spark can cause an explosion. It is necessary to suppress static electricity as much as possible in these places to minimize the risk of a catastrophe. Static discharge auto rewind cable reels are built with this specific purpose in mind. Insulating mechanism on this unit include a rubber stop cable clamp and a 50 amp grounding clamp standard with each unit. If necessary, Easy Rack can install a 100 amp copper grounding clamp upon request. Further safety is ensured by a non-sparking locket ratchet that secures the cable at the desired length after the reel has completed automatic hose retraction.

Easy Rack is a major supplier of air, water, and electric hose reels including low-pressure, medium and high pressure hose reels. Garden Hose Reels

Garden Hose reels are an essential tool for landscape contractors and maintenance personnel. In almost every corporate landscape there is some type of flora, fauna, foliage, greenery, or flower bed that needs to be watered on a daily basis. Trying to wrestle with a large, cumbersome hose can be an ergonomic strain to workers and slow down an operation if the hose becomes tangles, kinked, bent, or tied in mysterious knots that somehow always seem to tie themselves in hoses. Garden hose reels eliminate the strain, headache, and lost time associated with all these mini-dramas. They make it simple, quick, safe, and better for equipment; and they last for many years under the harshest outdoor conditions.

Easy Rack garden hose reels provide a lightweight, compact, and portable storage tool for exceptionally long garden hoses. This frees a property from trip hazards that result from large masses of garden hose strewn throughout the grass and wrapped around tree trunks, hedges, and outdoor structures. Garden hose reels also eliminate kinks in the hose that can cut off the flow of water, and they allow for easy, ergonomic maneuverability throughout the property. It is much easier to uncoil a garden hose from a reel than it is to untangle a kinked and twisted knot, and with a 4,000PSI rating, high pressure applications for watering entire lawns or elaborate gardens are safe and efficient. The garden hose reel also comes with a ¾” female fitting and male garden adapter, along with a 4’ inlet hose attached to the reel.

The high-quality, two piece 1 ¼” steel tube frame structure provides a solid reel for storing and moving your garden hose. Two solid 8” rubber tires make it easy to transport the unit anywhere in the front yard, back yard, or commercial atrium's. In order to prevent the garden hose reel from slipping forward, two rubber front feet hold the unit in place. When you are finished using the unit, you can remove the handle and store it in a secure, compact location until then next time it is needed. For easy rewinding, the garden hose reel also features direct hand crank rewind design so you don’t have to manually roll the hose back onto the reel by hand. An adjustable friction break allows you to stop the unit and lock the drum in place when necessary.

Larger garden hose reels also feature hose control bar that prevents the hose from slipping off the discs. This is often used by commercial landscaping crews who have multiple flower beds and garden areas to water on a very large property. The bases of these larger units have holes for temporary mounting or permanent installation of the reel.

Both the smaller garden hose reel and the larger garden hose reel are manufactured with professional grade heavy duty steel construction. Electric Lift Tables

Electric lifts reduce workplace trauma and injury resulting from repetitive motions, bending, and lifting. They are also highly ergonomic and efficient tools for improving process flow. By speeding up production, processing, and shipping, they add value to an organization’s profit. By minimizing stress and injury, electric lift tables reduce costs associated with injury claims, lost man-hours due to time off, and decreased productivity resulting from decreased worker morale.

Most electric lift tables operate on a hybrid hydraulic, electric system. Some, however, exclusively rely upon electric power. The key to choosing which electric lift table is right for you lies more in its mobility than its source of power.

Electric Hydraulic scissor lift tables
This electric scissor lift table is used by almost every sector of the manufacturing and warehousing industry. Lift Tables

Lift Tables
Ergonomic Electric Hydraulic Heavy Duty Lift Tables! Lifting tables are the ergonomic solution to reducing repetitive motion injury, increasing morale, and maximizing material handling process flow efficiency.

Ergonomic Lift Tables
Tilt tables and ergonomic lift tables are solutions to reducing repetitive motion injury. They improve and facilitate process flow, and they help increase morale, and maximize efficiency. Cumulative trauma disorders and repetitive stress injuries are cited as two of Americaʼs greatest workplace health problems. Each year these injuries result in individual suffering, lost revenue, and decreased efficiency. Lift tables alleviate these injuries by either elevating materials on a horizontal platform to a safe and comfortable height for workers to access without stress or strain. Tilt tables elevate one end of a box, crate, or basket to a desired angle in order to facilitate the loading or unloading of its contents.

Electric Lift Tables
Electric Lift Tables feature an open center design that allows a pallet truck to place a load on the platform. This lift table is protected by an external power pack equipped with a pressure relief valve that prevents overloading. The unit also features a flow control valve that controls the lowering speed. You can raise and lower the electric lift table using the UP and DOWN push-buttons on the 24V control box. Safety features include electric toe guards, velocity fuse in cylinders, safety maintenance props and an emergency stop button on the control box.

Electric-hydraulic lift tables employ a hydraulic system powered by an electric motor that elevates containers and materials. They are used in almost every type of manufacturing and warehouse environment. Electric hydraulic lift tables come with a number of safety mechanisms including toe guards to protect pinch points during lowering of the table, and brass velocity fuses to maintain platform height regardless of hydraulic pressure. The electric lift table is easy to operate by means of a 24V push-button hand control linked to a 2HP electric motor. The unit also includes a maintenance prop and an upper travel limit switch that stops the table at a maximum height to reduce motor wear.

Gas Cylinder Storage Racks

While there are many creative and innovative ways to transport and store all kinds of materials, gas cylinders are very important exceptions to the convenient storage rule. Due to the many hazards associated with compressed, and sometimes toxic gases, these cylinders require special storage racks and cabinets specifically designed for the purpose of safely handling and maintaining and inventory of compressed, liquefied gases contained in portable cylinders.

If you improperly store or handle gas cylinders, you risk creating some very severe safety hazards including, but not limited to, fire, contamination of the environment, asphyxiation, and possible explosion. Not only do these hazards represent heavy penalties and fines if your facility is found in violation of NFPA safety codes, but the level of risk these dangers represent literally make it a matter of life and death to properly handle and store gas cylinders correctly and safely.

Gas cylinder storage racks and cabinets represent an investment you canʼt afford NOT to make. A number of models can be obtained from Easy Rack that will keep your facility in full compliance with safety codes and help keep your property and employees safe from worse-case scenario accidents.

Portable Cylinder Clutcher
This portable gas cylinder rack is engineered for lifting and moving LP tanks. It offers smooth, ergonomic, automatic control that allows the operator to simply raise and lower handle while in use. This portable cylinder clutcher works with gas cylinder diameters that range from 8½ " to 12½". It includes two rigid and one swivel caster for easy, ergonomic maneuverability.

Cylinder Caddies
You can safely transport cylinders safely with these fork-mounted or pallet jack style gas cylinder racks. These units can hold anywhere from 2 to 6 cylinders each, and they come complete with safety chains to secure cylinders in place. Made of all steel construction, these cylinder caddy racks hold cylinders up to 9-1/2" in diameter.

Wall Mounted Single Cylinder Cabinet Brackets
These ingenious wall mounted gas cylinder storage cabinets are designed to store one LP cylinder each. The unit is easy to install. Simply bolt it to a wall and then secure the cylinder to the cabinet bracket with the strap. You can choose either steel or molded plastic brackets, and you can also order an optional steel chain for extra safety.

Welded Cylinder Torch Cart
Cutting torches with a gas cylinder fuel cell require their own portable cabinet to safely transport. The welded cylinder torch cart does exactly this. It is intended to contain and transport a cutting torch wherever it is needed. This portable cylinder torch cart includes gas cylinder tank storage cabinets, torch holding brackets, a torch holding box, and an overhead crane lifting point. Two handles and fork pockets allow it to be moved either by hand or with a fork truck. The unit rolls smoothly on two 10" x 3½" pneumatic wheels.

Gas Cylinder Tank Truck
The LP-6 is an all-in-one cart that allows users to transport gas cylinders to the location they are needed, and then switch out tanks in a safe and efficient manner. With a sturdy, user friendly design, this gas cylinder tank truck is the ergonomic solution to the many lifting, transporting, and storing problems associate with LP tanks. The built in crane can be used to safely load full gas cylinders into fork trucks. The crane pivots 360 degrees for maximum versatility. The tank attachment at the end of the boom utilizes steel hooks to securely clamp each end of the cylinder. Built in racks allow for convenient storage of gas cylinders in two sets of racks. The lighter, empty gas cylinders can be easily removed from the fork truck by hand and stored in the two vertical racks. Full gas cylinders can be stored in the four horizontal racks, allowing them to be picked up by the built in crane. Simply pull the pin, and the top racks pivot outward easily to allow access to the bottom two tanks. Units feature two rigid and two swivel casters for easy portability, and a floor lock is included to keep the unit immobile while in use. The ergonomic push handle is bolted in, and is easily removable. The crane boom is raised and lowered with a manual hand pump hydraulic lift. This allows one operator to raise the gas cylinder from the storage racks on the unit, or to lower them from the fork with a convenient lowering valve.

Commercial Shelving

The benefits of commercial widespan shelving provide both the motivation and the return on investment that justifies their procurement in the first place. The variety of commercial shelving is extensive, ranging from smaller, portable commercial shelves and racks to heavy duty industrial commercial pallet racking systems. The intent behind this diversity is to provide the most efficient conversion of floor space and vertical cube space into an optimum environment for one or more specific types of contents. As a general principle, any item or container that features symmetric or proportional dimensions and has at least one flat surface can be stored on some sort of commercial shelf or metal rack. This is because shelving systems themselves are rectangular in design and provide horizontal storage space in ascending rows. Round containers can be stored on shelves provided they too have a flat surface on the end with a sufficient radius to balance and support their weight. Irregularly sized materials such as tubing, pipe, furniture, Sheetrock, and flooring supplies normally require more specialized storage areas such as those provided by cantilever racks.

Because symmetry and balance determine which materials you can store on heavy duty commercial shelves, weight plays a secondary role in determining which units you will need for your facility. Most 18 gauge and 20 gauge steel shelving units can easily support 400-450 lbs in weight. This is normally sufficient for the average crate or box, and because these commercial shelves feature sufficiently compact builds to be positioned in a number of places, anything from stockrooms to the entirety of a wall can be reorganized with as many of these units as you need to stack and store materials, products, supplies, tools, and even paperwork. (Some of our smaller shelving systems routinely find their way into the offices of managers who use them for easy access to drawings and materials that need to be worked on throughout the day).

Larger commercial shelves, such as cantilever racks are meant for more heavy duty storage. If you are storing parts in large crates, any number of industrial strength shelves can help you safely and efficiently do this. Your choices are best determined by considering three factors when making your selection. The first is safety. With extremely large items or heavy containers, make absolutely certain that you invest in a commercial shelving system whose weight capacity exceeds the total weight of items. Maxing out a brand new storage system is never a good idea. A worker may not be aware of this, store additional materials on a system already at full capacity, and cause the unit to become unstable. The second is accessibility. If you only need to retrieve items from the front of the shelf, commercial wide span systems offer you some of the most powerful storage units in existence and the added stability of resting against a wall. Open ended systems, however, are often required for items that have to be retrieved by a team of people continually throughout the day, such as you see in many assembly lines. Finally, the actual length, height, and depth of the commercial shelf you invest in really needs to be assessed in terms of floor space/vertical cube space conversion. The total dimensions of a shelf are not always indicators of the actual interior, usable storage space. To make certain every square cubic inch pays your back for your investment, talk to your material handling specialist about usable storage solutions, weight capacity, accessibility, and methods of ensuring the unit remains stable and secure in every conceivable scenario.

Easy Rack maintains a full selection of small, mid-sized, and heavy duty steel commercial racking systems, including wide span units that can be used in places ranging from service center areas behind the front desk to large warehouses where voluminous storage must be consolidated along the walls to make way for heavy traffic. If cost is an issue, our procurement and distribution network can locate any commercial shelf you find on our website and obtain it for you in quality, used condition—sometimes for a discount of up to 40%.

Shelving & Storage Solutions
Easy Rack storage solutions and shelves include everything from pallet racks for general pallet storage racks to medium and heavy duty cantilever racks. Both lines of material handling products offer flexibility and customization. High density storage, tool storage, and parts organization can be accomplished with any number of bin storage cabinets and bar racks, maximizing your floor space and converting unused vertical cube space in the process.

Easy Rack specialists can answer all questions you have about which work lights and loading dock light fixtures work best with your specific operations. Fork Lift Platforms

The quick elevation of maintenance personnel to overhead racks and shelving is essential to the smooth operations of any organization. The key is to transport them with the best assurance of safety in the process to avoid injuries, downtime, and possible liabilities. Forklift work platforms are an excellent way to accomplish both safe and speedy transportation of workers from one part of the plant to the other. Simply by attaching one of these work platforms to the front of your forklift, you create an entirely new form of vehicle that is intended for a specific, unique function and designed to fulfill that function with the highest level of human safety.
Forklift work platforms are built with fork pockets in the back that allow them to be accessed by the forks of a fork truck. Chains are then wrapped around the forks to provide the first level of securing the attachment. To further secure the unit, as tine is engaged to lock the work platform firmly in place.

Forklift work platforms feature handrails on the side that workers can hold onto in order to maintain their balance while the platform is being elevated or moved. Most units also include a checker floor plate that is designed to provide foot traction for workers while the forklift is moving the platform forward. The fourth side of most units features a 60” high expanded metal backing, although in California, OSHA requirements mandate an 84” backing, which you can easily obtain from your Easy Rack account manager.

The standard capacity for the average forklift work platform sold by Easy Rack is approximately 1,000 pounds—more than enough to safely carry the weight of several employees from point to point. Further safety features such as a lanyard with safety harness, a harness or hook to further secure the platform to the forklift, and an emergency stop button kit and web can be ordered with your unit. Fork truck work platforms can be ordered in either new models or used models. Used models feature the same capacity and safety features as new fork truck work platforms, but can save you as much as 40% off your purchase order.

If space is limited in your facility, and you are uncertain as to whether or not you can conveniently store fork truck work platforms while not in use, don’t give up on the idea of investing in these excellent tools for managing inventory and performing repairs. Invest instead in the space saving, super efficient fold down forklift work platform. This unit operates in exactly the same manner as our standard models do, and it offers the added benefit of compact storage. One person can easily assemble the unit for use and fold it down again when finished.

Doors on either side of the fold down forklift work platform open easily and close securely with a built in latch. The platform features 60’ high expanded metal handrails and back to ensure personnel safety, and the platform also includes a tine lock like the ones found in standard models. When workers are finished with the task at hand, one person can quickly fold the work platform down and store it with minimal effort, lost time, and space.

Loading Dock Ramps

Loading Dock Ramps
Many facilities like construction sites lack docks with permanent, concrete loading dock ramps. Moving products to and from trucks and rail cars can be both laborious and dangerous for these businesses, even with the use of fork trucks. Portable yard ramps make efficient and safe to expeditiously move product from point to point without the need of an actual dock. Construction crews especially value yard ramps for their ability to load and unload building materials. Because they function just like a fixed loading dock ramp, yard ramps will support both fork truck and foot traffic and are available in a number of builds, sizes, and weight capacities.

Different applications require different sizes of loading dock ramps. The most commonly used lengths are 30’ and 36’ foot yard ramps that include a six foot level off to help facilitate access to storage areas and materials. Additional widths and capacities can also be ordered for specialized applications. Ask an Easy Rack specialist about your options. Easy Rack portable yard ramps are manufactured from steel, aluminum, or a blend of aluminum and steel (aluminum frame, steel grate). Your choices in material build are determined by the type of application, the weight capacitance you require, and the amount of portability you require. Again, a material handling specialist will help you make these determinations when placing your order.

Steel Loading Dock Ramps
Steel loading dock ramps feature a 2 speed hand crank and offer a service range from 45” to 62”. Weight capacities range from 15,000lbs. to 30,000lbs. The ramp itself is either 30’ length or 36’ in length. Safety features include steel traction grating, safety lock chains, rubber bumpers; a 15” overlap lip for extra safety, and 4” high safety curbs. Welded hand rails can also be welded on to any unit upon request.

Aluminum Yard Ramps
As in the case of steel yard ramps, aluminum loading dock ramps feature either 30ft straight ramp or 36ft. ramp with a 6ft. level off. Weight capacities range from 16,000lbs. up to 30,000 lbs. Several features make this unit user friendly and safe. A hand pump hydraulic lift allows for a single person to adjust the height. Rubber shock absorbers help to stabilize the unit, and an optional tow bar enables trucks or forklifts to move the loading dock around a construction site or shipping yard. Safety anchor chains come included with the unit. The yard ramp can also be manufactured with an aluminum frame and steel grating, and customized sizing can be arranged through your Easy Rack specialist.

Mobility
Various tire options, including pneumatic tires that are available for both steel and aluminum loading dock ramps. In order to meet with OSHA and ANSI requirements, every yard ramp must be attached to the truck with bolt locking chains before use. Toe bars can also be fitted to any loading dock ramp so that fork trucks can move them. For extended service range, a loading dock leveler can be added to the ramp, and towbar hitches, loops, or forklift pickup slots can be installed that will allow a variety of vehicles to move and position the yard ramp.

Easy Rack carries commercial shelving, material handling equipment, commercial lighting, used pallet racks, and modular prefab buildings available nationwide. If you can not find the dock equipment you are looking for call us toll free at 1-888-776-3720 and we will find it for you.

Industrial Light Fixtures

Energy Efficient Indoor & Outdoor Industrial Lighting Fixtures Will Save You Money.
Industrial lighting must be able to accommodate a wide variety of needs ranging from commercial warehouse lighting, car lot lighting to area lighting for detailed tasks. Industrial lighting must also light warehouse areas that are light contrasting such as those with and without day lighting. Industrial lighting does have a significant impact on employee safety and productivity, because an inadequately lit area can create eye fatigue and lower morale.

If you have employees assembling printed circuit boards for example, need adequate overhead and task lighting that does not create glare. Warehouse areas require high intensity lights placed on poles or hung from the ceiling as opposed to workstations which may require simple overhead fluorescent lighting. There are different industrial lighting lamps and fixtures depending on the height of the facility.

Save Time with Commercial & Industrial Light Fixtures.
In the industrial workplace, there are many commercial lighting needs. Industrial lighting is not just for factory or warehouse floors. Industrial buildings are also composed of hallways, aisles, offices and computer rooms which may be enormous in size. Large scale industrial lighting is available for each of these areas and also for emergency exit and outdoor wall pack lighting. When you shop for industrial lighting, you will find numerous lighting choices including standard and pulse start halides, energy efficient fluorescent, and lighting which preserve natural colors in the environment while making it more desirable for employees.

It is important to buy high quality lighting. Cheap commercial or industrial pole lights will degrade quickly over time, putting out less and less lumens. Because the degradation occurs over time and the bulbs or lamps keep working, you may not even realize the industrial lighting is not working at maximum efficiency. The best industrial lighting will maintain their close to maximum lumens for the life of the lamps. Therefore, a regular lamp change program should be implemented around average lamp life of the fixture you select. HID lamps and fluorescent lamps offer the most cost effective solutions for commercial industrial lighting applications.

With a better understanding of how industrial lighting impacts productivity, it is easy to improve your lighting standards. Industrial lighting and fixtures from Easy Rack are now designed to save you money while improving the ability of your employees to get the job done right the first time. From that standpoint, industrial lighting contributes to quality control as much as it conserves energy.

Truck Loading Ramps

When consumer goods are being transported to customers, truck drivers often will find themselves in need of a truck loading ramp. While many commercial trucks and trailers have some type of lifting system, it still makes the whole loading or unloading process a much more tedious affair. By comparison, a truck loading ramps from Easy Rack, can be stored inside your truck or kept on site to allow the trailer to be fully loaded or unloaded without a dock.

There are a variety of different designs of truck loading ramps available. When using a forklift truck or pallet jack you will need a loading ramp that offers a gentle incline to make it safe and manageable to move heavy items onto and off the truck. Aluminum loading ramps with midway supports are very effective for use with this type of equipment. This lightweight metal has enormous strength, and under most circumstances is much more rigid than steel. Aluminum loading ramps are also light enough to be manipulated into place by a single person. This means that the driver of the truck or his assistant will be able to manage the loading and unloading process if absolutely necessary.

When you are choosing the right truck loading ramps for your business, safety should always be your min concern. While some companies offer cheap truck loading ramps, these are generally of a much lower quality, and are made from poorer materials without the levels of safety consideration given by a more established manufacturer. Often, low quality loading ramps are not equipped with side rails or decent support structures underneath them, and this will increase the risk of a collapse in use, as well as making it more likely that a user will run off the side of the ramp when in use.

Easy Rack carries a wide variety of loading dock levelers, hitch lifts, loading dock ramps, & dock boards, commercial shelving, material handling equipment, commercial lighting, parking lot lighting kits, tennis court lighting packages, athletic field sports lighting, used pallet racks, Christmas lights, and modular prefab buildings.

Ergonomic Lifting Equipment

What does ergonomics mean in the material handling business?
Wikipedia defines Ergonomics as the application of scientific information concerning objects, systems and environment for human use (definition adopted by the International Ergonomics Association in 2007).

Ergonomics is commonly thought of as how companies design tasks and work areas to maximize the efficiency and quality of their employees’ work. However, ergonomics comes into everything which involves people. Work systems, sports and leisure, health and safety should all embody ergonomics principles if well designed. The goal of ergonomics and human factors is to make the interaction of humans with machines as smooth as possible, enhancing performance, reducing error, and increasing user satisfaction through comfort and aesthetics.

Does Easy Rack provide ergonomic equipment such as lifts and work tables?
Ergonomic lifting equipment by Easy Rack is designed to anticipate every situation where a worker may need to strain his or her back in the process of elevating equipment or supplies and to provide a safe, efficient method of material handling that will safeguard both the body and the materials being moved to the maximum possible degree.

Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are an ingenious form of ergonomic lift that utilizes two diagonal cross beams that pivot from a central point much like the blades of a scissor open and close. Easy Rack supplies both standard scissor lifts and scissor lift tables that combine the power of a fulcrum point with a sturdy, horizontal surface that can raise boxes, tools, and building materials straight off the ground with no strain to the arms, neck, or back.

Ergonomic Lifting Accessories
Due to the wide range of uses ergonomic lifts are deployed for in factories and warehouses, it is necessary to customize these devices to task as much as possible. A customized tool offers the advantages of increased safety and better performance, and it benefits a company with reduced risk of injury or damage to materials being handled. Every day, Easy Rack continues to expand its inventory with all necessary accessories required to fully customize the basic designs of scissor lifts, hydraulic lifts and tilt tables to the task at hand.

Everything from AC portable motors, air/oil approach ramps, battery chargers and battery charge indicators, to casters and handle kits can be obtained simply by browsing through our selection or consulting with an Easy Rack specialist trained in the customization and efficient use of battery powered ergonomic lifting equipment.

Pallet Rack Removal Specialists, Forklift Pallet Attachments & Material Handling Ergonomic Pallet Moving Equipment

It is a good idea to outsource your pallet rack removal if you are moving to a new facility. Because almost everything your will be receiving in your new location arrives on pallets, having the correct fork lift attachments and other ergonomic pallet trucks on the day you open the doors of your new facility will prevent you from missing a step in your receiving cycle. Professional and reliable pallet rack removal by Easy Rack will safeguard the efficiency of your operations and ensure the safe storage of materials on heavy duty racking systems you can count on to be ready for use the day you move in.

Easy Rack recommends you outsource used pallet rack removal to us simply because the task is not as simple as it looks at face value. Modern warehouses feature much more complex designs than the old shell buildings of decades past, and the proper removal, relocation, and setup of your pallet rack shelving requires an expert who can assess the dimensions of your new facility, estimate the most efficient use of your new floor plan, and take all relevant safety requirements fully into account.

Professional pallet rack removal ensures not only human safety, but also the safety of your racks, materials, and supplies. Because these pallet storage units hold up hundreds and thousands of pounds of weight (and sometimes weigh quite a bit themselves), it takes trained professionals to properly remove stored components, disassemble your pallet racks, and remove them without damage or incident.

While it might be possible for some companies to handle their own pallet rack installation and removal safely, it is almost impossible to get it done quickly without losing time and money in the process.

By outsourcing your pallet rack removal to an Easy Rack specialist, your company will minimize the risk of catastrophic accident in your storage areas, and it will also maximize your chances that your pallet racks will be moved and re-installed in optimal shape and working condition.

Our professional pallet rack installers will not only install your systems, but they will test them for strength and integrity to make certain they are ready for use before you open the doors of your dock.

We do this for any client, anywhere in the nation. Each pallet rack and new facility is unique, so pallet rack removal is implemented on a case-by-case basis with careful attention being paid to critical details such as heat stress levels in the new facility, securing the units to the cement floor, and any necessary bracing to offset seismic activity in your area.

Let me tell you about Easy Rack ships and installs a wide variety of commercial shelving, material-handling equipment, commercial warehouse lighting, used pallet racks, Parking Lot Lighting Fixtures, Athletic Sports Lighting Equipment, Commercial Grade Christmas Lights, Tennis Court Lighting and modular prefab buildings installed nationwide.

We have an amazing customer service department that is second to none. They will work tirelessly to assist you in selecting, quoting and answering you have on any product we offer. Industrial, Folding, Safety, Security, Steel & Folding Gates from Easy Rack.

One excellent way to create temporary barriers to keep areas free from traffic and safe for workers to perform tasks is to use industrial gates. Industrial, folding, safety, and steel gates may be used both indoors and outdoors. Folding gates can function as stand alone units or units connected in a series to form longer barriers. Steel gates can be placed in front of sensitive areas at night to help security guards regulate access to the building. Other models can be setup indoors by cleaning crews who need to keep wet floors off limits to pedestrians and vehicles. Safety gates and barriers provide construction crews with a means of sectioning off piles of debris that occasionally accumulate during the course of the day.

Easy Rack ships both used and new industrial gates, folding gates, safety gates, and steel scissor folding gates in a wide range of sizes to factories and warehouses all over the United States. Easy Rack specialists will consult with you over the phone and help you choose the right security gates and industrial gates for your facility at no charge for their time.

The following are just a few of the many steel and folding gates that you can choose from.

Expand-A-Gate

The expand-a-gate is an ideal stand-alone barrier that is designed to temporarily prohibit access to areas for cleaning or safety concerns. It expands from a collapsed width of 14.5" to 144". It can be used alone, or linked with other expand-a-gates end-to-end to form longer runs. This is especially useful to construction operations that may need to section off half of an entire new floor. The Expand-A-Gate is made with heavy-duty construction and painted with a yellow & black finish. It is available in all steel or all aluminum construction.

All Galvanized Folding Gates and Portable Gates
These 15-gauge steel folding gates are made with fast installation foremost in mind. You can use them to secure outside access during the day and add security at night with heavy-duty 3" rubber casters that allow the operator to quickly and fully retract gate when not in use. The center drop pin rests in a pre-drilled hole and secures the steel gate when extended. A lock located on the right side of single gates prevents unauthorized removal. Each folding gate is constructed of steel U-channels riveted back-to-back using aircraft quality rivets and heavy-duty 1½" x 1½" vertical angles. It is then galvanized for durability.

Easy Rack includes all necessary installation hardware with your order.

Contact Easy Rack directly for a full range of steel gate sizes.

Portable Gate
Portable gates are great tools for many applications. You can use them to block equipment, personnel and entrances. They also make very useful barriers for security both inside and outside of buildings. Portable gates expand and lock to close off any opening. When they are not in use, simply fold them up, roll away and store. Porch mounted gates are good for handicap areas.

Easy Rack supplies an optional add-on section to create larger runs.

Removable, Decorative and Retractable Safety Bollards from Easy Rack Your Online Material Handling Distributor.

You can place removable bollards and safety barriers in front of certain areas to create a temporary barrier to protect equipment, personnel, and sensitive supplies. You can also use them to regulate traffic at access points. This is often necessary in environments that expanding their facilities through new construction or undertaking some form of renovation, or at times when production and distribution is at a higher than normal level of activity.

You can remove many of these decorative safety bollards are from their bases and take them out of the floor until they are needed again. The bases that support removable bollards remain attached to the floor at these times. Slipcovers will slide over the base when the bollards are removed. This prevents a hole from forming in the ground or in the floor and eliminates trip hazards by doing so.

Easy Rack carries three major categories of removable steel bollards with supporting articles each of which is designed to either be removed or repositioned to regulate traffic of various sorts.

Removable Ornamental Bollards
Removable ornamental bollards form an attractive, functional protective barrier against vehicle traffic. The bollard locks into a galvanized steel socket that cements to the ground. It is an ideal tool for regulating vehicle access and parking. Whenever you remove the bollard, a socket cover protects the hole, leaving no protrusion above the surface.

This bollard can be padlocked into place to prevent unauthorized removal and also includes eyes for attaching chain or rope.

Self-Storing Bollard with Door & Lock
This removable bollard is retractable. It is designed to slide down into the ground or floor when not needed. It is great for preventing access to parking areas. Every unit includes a sleeve that can be set in the ground with concrete. The retractable bollard has a handle in the top to allow for easy lifting and lowering. All you have to do is lift and lower it, then twist it to lock into. This retractable bollard includes locking tab for use with padlock (padlock not included) to prevent unauthorized removal.

Folding Bollards
Folding bollards work to create a removable barrier for parking control and security. The bollard can be raised to a vertical position and locked into place with a padlock. When you remove the padlock, you can lower the bollard to ground to allow for access. The base plate must be lagged to ground for proper installation. Easy Rack will perform the installation for you upon request.

Using Fork Lift Attachments Self Dumping Steel Hoppers Easily Move Raw Materials.

Self dumping steel hoppers and perfect for carrying goods on a standard fork lift truck. You not only get a disposal system that is easily manageable in terms of loading and unloading, but one that is fast, reliable, and capable of carrying large amounts of materials in a single trip around the building.

Steel dumpers are stationary for collecting items and completely portable when transporting from one area to another. The handy fork lift attachment makes them an attractive trash collection and disposal solution to most commercial warehouse or industrial facilities.

You can choose light duty hoppers that are designed to carry waste such as crushed boxes and long planks of wood, or deeper fully contained hoppers with poly lids which are suitable for dust and even liquids. Most self dumping hoppers feature a fully laser welded construction that prevents any leakage in use.

One of the main advantages of a self dumping steel hopper is that it does not require complex and expensive pneumatic systems in order to raise the fully loaded hopper in order to dump the contents. Instead, the natural position of the hopper is in the dumping position, and gravity will naturally pull the unit forwards when the operator unlocks it. This means that the hopper can be attached to the fork lifts quickly and effectively, with no additional power requirements or other issues needing to be addressed.

If you are in the market for a new steel dumper or a self dumping hopper with a quick release feature, Easy Rack can meet those requirements. Our vast selection of material handling products, coupled with award winning customer service representatives, will make your online buying experience a treat compared to others. We will work hard to earn your business and welcome the opportunity to serve you.

Visit Easy Rack for Helpful Information on Commercial Lighting, Pallet Racking and Material Handling Industry Terms.

Knowing the right terminology, the right slang words and understanding the lingo of any industry, will give you a leg up on the competition and give you "The Power of Knowledge".

According to Wikipedi, the term knowledge is used to mean the confident understanding of a subject with the ability to use it for a specific purpose. At Easy Rack, we have that understanding of the material handling business, the pallet racking industry as well as the commercial lighting business and offer the following information as a courtesy to our customers.

The following are some of the valuable educational and interesting information you will find in our industry specific glossaries by visiting the Easy Rack:

Commercial Lighting & Parking Lot Lighting Terms
Commercial lighting includes both artificial light sources such as light fixtures and natural illumination of commercial warehouses from daylight. Artificial commercial lighting is designed in today's market for specific applications such as parking lot lighting, security lighting, warehouse lighting, loading dock lighting and commercial decorative lighting.

Here are a few common commercial lighting examples:

Ballast - A device used with an electric-discharge lamp to obtain the necessary circuit conditions (voltage, current, and waveform) for starting and operating; all commercial HID and fluorescent lighting fixtures require a ballast for proper operation.
Color Rendering Index (CRI) - This is a scientific measurement of the balance between the wavelengths making up any “white” light. This is an index from 0-100 measuring a light source’s ability to render color accurately. The lower the color temperature, the warmer or more yellow is the appearance. The higher the color temperature, the cooler or bluer is the appearance.
High Pressure Sodium - These HID bulbs contain a sodium gas and produce a yellow/orange light. They are very bright, and last up to 24,000 hours. They are not good for color rendering and are best used as security flood lighting fixtures.
Light Loss Factor (LLF) - A factor used in calculating illuminance after a given period of time and under given conditions. It takes into account temperature and voltage variations, dirt accumulation of luminaire, lamp depreciation, maintenance procedures and atmospheric conditions.

Material Handling & Logistical Terms
Bulk material handling systems are typically comprised of movable items of machinery such as ramps and conveyors, pallet stacker's, fork lifts, hand trucks, pallet trucks, gantry and jib cranes, drum handling and various loading dock equipment combined with storage facilities such as small businesses, commercial warehouses or shipyards.

Here are a few common material handling examples:

Carousel - Material Handling Equipment designed to bring product to picker so that the picker can remain stationed in a designated picking location without traveling. Ideally, order information is loaded or automatically transferred into the carousel system, and multiple orders are picked by multiple pickers at one time. Types of carousels include horizontal and vertical.
Dock Leveler - A plate at the dock door entrance that raised and lowered either manually or hydraulically to accommodate trailer floor heights. Dock levelers come in many shapes, weight categories ans sizes.
Hand Truck - Western hand truck is a device used to transport goods manually with wheels within the side rails. The Eastern hand-truck is similar except the wheels are outside the side rails. Easy Rack has a wide selection of steel and aluminum hand trucks and ergonomic carts.
Pallet Jack - Material handling equipment consisting of pallet forks on small wheels that are used in the warehouse to move cases of product. Standard, all terrain and big wheel pallet trucks are available from Easy Rack.

Wooden Pallet & Pallet Racking Terms
A wooden, pallet sometimes called a skid, is a flat transport structure that supports goods in a stable fashion while being lifted by a forklift, pallet jack, or other jacking device. A pallet is the foundation of a unit load design, which can be as simple as placing any type of goods on a pallet and securing them with either metal strapping or stretch-wrapped plastic film.

Here are a few common wooden pallet examples:

National Wooden Pallet and Container Association - A national association with the goal of promoting the design, manufacturer, distribution, recycling and sale of pallets, containers and reels.
Pallet Jack - A hand-propelled, wheeled platform, equipped with a lifting device for moving palletized unit loads.
Shipping Pallet - A wooden or plastic pallet designed to be used for a single one-way trip from shipper to receiver that is disposed of after use.

Easy Rack began with the vision of solving the problems of overhead that result from time delays, insufficient space, and facilities outgrown by business expansion. Many companies try to make do with older, outdated tools, or they feel that they must conserve their procurement budgets until the last minute. This often slows down workers, and can result in certain instances in worker injuries, worker compensation claims, and potential liabilities for companies. Often, at other times, companies feel compelled to move once they determine they have outgrown their facilities. This, of course, costs a tremendous amount of money, and it also results in production downtime.

Logistical Glossary Terms and Descriptions of the Material Handling Industry and Tranportation Sector.

Every industry has a special language of it's own and commercial transportation is no exception. The transportation sector has a language full of specialized terms and nick names for various items and procedures as does the pallet rack industry. As material handling experts, Easy Rack has compiled a partial glossary of logistical terms to help you understand and decipher what these material handling industry professionals are saying and what these terms mean. This by no means is a complete logistical glossary, but a fair representation of the most commonly used transportation and warehouse industry terms.

Here are a few examples from the Logistical Glossary we have selected for your viewing enjoyment:

Back Haul - When an outbound shipment is delivered, instead of returning empty, a load is picked up from a destination near the final stop-off and then returned either back to the warehouse or a Consignee location near the loading dock facility.

Bottleneck - Traffic or congestion in an area of the warehouse due to poor planning or insufficient resources. Commercial warehouse lighting can also contribute to these conditions.

Dock Plate - A movable metal plate that is placed between the warehouse dock door and a trailer or rail car and makes it easier/smoother to access a trailer or rail car with a forklift or similar equipment. Dock plates come in a multitude of sizes to accommodate any size dock condition.

Flow Rack - Racking equipment that allows for the product to be stocked in through one side and removed for order fulfillment purposes from the other side. Products stored using Flow Racks are naturally allocated via FIFO based on the racking equipment design.

Dock Leveler - A leveling dock plate that adjusts to the height of a trailer.

Pallet Jack - Material handling equipment consisting of pallet forks on small wheels that are used in the warehouse to move cases of product.

Master Pack - A carton containing a specific number of product, items in a container or multiple case quantities.

Easy Rack has been selling all types of all types of material handling supplies and equipment for years. This includes new and used pallet racks, industrial shelving, storage shelving, ergonomic equipment & supplies, commercial warehouse lighting, and even modular buildings.

These simple panels will allow you to easily transition between the dock and the back of the truck in order to allow easy access. The walk ramps will even out the difference in height between the two planes in order to make access safe and secure.

Some of the other essential loading dock equipment include wheel chocks that will stop a vehicle from moving while it is being unloaded and stabilizing jacks that support the box when disconnected from the truck. Loading dock bumpers fastened to the dock wall prevent trucks from slamming into the dock causing damage or injury. There are also numerous pieces of loading dock equipment dedicated to keeping the dock dry, but the most effective item is a dock seal.

Easy Rack carries cranes, specialty cranes and hoists that are very helpful when lifting heavy or bulky loads from the dock to a pick up truck or 18 wheeler. High quality loading dock equipment provides you with the means to manage your distribution much more effectively, and will give your business the competitive edge that can make the difference.

Testimonials and Product Reviews From Easy Rack - A Houston Based Material Handling & Modular Office Building Superstore.

Easy Rack serves commercial and industrial companies of all sizes while keeping the end-user in mind as well. So, when we here from our online customers, we like to share those remarks. Here are just a few testimonials and product reviews we have recently received:

We recently upgraded our security lighting using Easy Rack wall packs light fixtures. I was surprised at how easy they were to install and how much light they produced. The old incandescent lights we replaced are simply no match for these commercial grade fixtures. Our facility is now secure and we expect no problems from vandals going forward. Your company was a joy to work with! - Charles Shumacher

WOW- This new telescopic ladder is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I am a roofing contractor who has a bad back and struggles with a 24' extension ladder everyday. This is a real load off my shoulders and makes me look more professional to the clients. - Cliff Jacobs

Gracious Easy Rack! Sales at my Mexican Restaurant are terrific since installing several of your commercial water cooled patio fans. Since both outdoor fans are self contained, and operate up to eight hours without refilling, I do not have to use garden hoses or worry about someone tripping on them. It has made it much more enjoyable for my customers to drink, eat and relax during the summer months. - Hector Gonzales

The home owner's association wanted me to thank you in helping us with a professional lighting design layout. The decorative pole lights that you recommended have solved our security lighting issues and added a touch of class to our complex. Not one of our association members is unhappy with the look, performance or cost of the commercial metal halide lights! Thanks Easy Rack! - Mark Sheffield

We live in a gated retirement community where several of our close friends use wheelchairs and scooters to get around. Since buying your residential wheel chair lift last month, we no longer struggle getting anyone in and out of our home. In fact, we had the installer spray the wheel chair ramp to match our house trim color and you can hardly see it from the street. Thanks again! - Alice Ramsey

We have been inspired with our new carousel turntable from the day it arrived. Before getting this valuable material handling tool we used to go round and round with shrink wrap to prepare palletized loads for shipment. Now we just forklift the pallet onto the carousel and simply rotate the pallet to bundle the goods for shipment. Thank you Easy Rack for making our job easier! - Carlos Garcia

Five gallon pail heaters from Easy Rack are a perfect solution to improving viscosity.

One of the most popular storage containers that are used in the commercial arena is a metal or plastic five gallon pail. They are inexpensive to acquire, and incredibly useful for storing solvents, paints, glue and other chemicals. Some of these chemicals are thick and are difficult to pour if they get cold. 5 gallon pail heaters are a perfect solution to improving viscosity.

The bucket heaters are fairly simply by design. Think of the heater as a bucket inside a bucket device. The liquid filled bucket simply needs to be placed into the 5 gallon pail heater and then it will be kept at a pre-set temperature of up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit for as long as required.

One of the main advantages of the latest generation of drum handling equipment is that they have been designed to heat the bucket from the sides rather than the bottom. This allows for a much larger surface area for the container to be handled, and speeds up the amount of time that heating the content takes, it prevents leaks from the bottom of a bucket dripping potentially flammable liquids onto the elements of the 5 gallon pail and drum heaters, which could cause a fire.

Using a 5 gallon pail heater regularly to keep the liquid in a bucket at a temperature where it can be worked with is a sensible option that will help to minimize the amount of waste generated by a process, without compromising on the efficiency that staff are empowered to work with. Thanks to the clever design of the drum heater unit, and the levels of control given by the thermostat, the heating of the bucket is as even as possible, as well as being extremely safe.
Let the consultants at Easy Rack assist with your drum and bucket heating needs. Why not ASK THE EXPERT if you have any questions?

Easy Rack has been selling drum heaters and providing all types of material handling supplies and equipment for years. Easy Rack is delighted to ship nationwide to any major city to service our clients. Whether you live in New York City, San Francisco California, Chicago Illinois, Dallas Texas, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, or even Tucson Arizona, Easy Rack can service your needs.

Maximize storage space in your warehouse with drive through pallet racks from Easy Rack

Are you quickly running out of space in your warehouse?
One of the best ways of maximizing storage space within your warehouse is by implementing a system of drive through pallet racks available from Easy Rack. These drive through pallet racks are a great way to boost storage capacity without chewing up valuable floor space.

What are the drawbacks of a traditional storage system?
Traditional racking systems require large amounts of floor space for fork lifts to navigate between racks. These so called "fork lift alleys" typically are wider than a standard rack itself, which translates into less storage and more aisles. By replacing conventional rack systems and using Easy Rack drive through pallet racks, you can maximize available space and increase storage capacity.
How does a drive thru pallet racking system work anyway?
A drive through pallet rack system involves storing the pallets in a consolidated area. Instead of having fork lift aisles between the pallet racks, they are arranged against each other, and are then removed one at a time as required. While there are a number of disadvantages to this material handling solution, it represents the absolute best way of maximizing the use of warehouse space, and should definitely be considered by any business for whom limited room could present a hurdle to expansion.

What is the main disadvantage to drive thru pallet racking?
The main disadvantage of a drive through pallet racking is that only the perimeter pallets can be accessed at any time. This means that if your staff need to get access to materials that are stored in the middle, they will need to shuffle other pallets first. When considering whether to implement a material handling solution in your workplace, it is important to decide whether what impact it will have on being able to select different items on demand is more important than the space saving benefits that it will produce versus efficiency costs.

How do I learn more about drive through pallet racking equipment and installation?
Easy Rack, a Nationwide supplier of material handling equipment can answer most of your questions. The pallet rack installers at Easy Rack are friendly, knowledgeable and ready to earn your business. Want to talk to a real person? Contact Easy Rack today at 281-342-0200.

The central piece of warehouse equipment is the forklift truck and material handling fork lift accessories!

The warehouse is in many ways the heart of any industrial operation. As the source of equipment, raw materials, and the core of both dispatch and inward handling of goods, any process failures within the warehouse can have very significant long term effects on your whole business. Having a smoothly operating orders system in your business will have a very positive effect on operations, and pay off in the long run in the form of greater productivity and profits.

The cornerstone of efficiency is providing the most appropriate warehouse equipment for your staff in order to make sure that whatever duties they have to carry out can be done easily and without error. Errors causing accidents, injury and damage to product are the greatest cause of unnecessary cost in the workplace, and in general, these errors can largely be avoided through the use of the proper warehouse equipment. Most errors seem to occur when personnel use improper equipment to perform a task, and because the warehouse equipment or warehouse lighting equipment that they are using is ill suited to the job, rather than being a specialist piece of kit, they must compromise on their work, and potentially cause damage.

The central piece of warehouse equipment is the forklift truck. These versatile machines are custom designed for moving equipment and materials around efficiently using fork lift accessories. Fork lifts are the basis for many other pieces of warehouse equipment such as special fork mounted hoppers and even drum hoppers that have been designed in order to make carrying unusual and unwieldy objects around much more simple.

Using the forklift as the core of your warehouse equipment will give you the chance to make lifting and carrying equipment from one place to another easier and quicker. It will be necessary to put wide aisles between any commercial shelving to provide access for the forklift, and this means a larger warehouse is required. Higher shelving units and pallet racks allow for more intensive use of space, but in turn require a forklift with a higher reach, and this has implications for cost and training.

The field of warehouse equipment encompasses a wide range of different items, and while not all of them require specific training for staff, time spent on improving the understanding and safety that can be observed by employees will pay off in the long term thanks to better efficiency, fewer accidents, and a more productive warehouse supplying all areas of your business.

Easy Rack, a Texas based material handling company can help. Call 713-553-1122 today for product information.

Easy Rack has commercial aluminum walk ramps in several sizes with accessories to meet your material handling needs.

Aluminum walk ramps provide an excellent means of safely moving heavy loads to and from your truck at locations using hand trucks or dollies. Our heavy duty commercial grade walk ramps feature an overlapping style that rests on the truck bed to hold the ramp securely in position. Walk ramps are very handy for landscapers, concrete contractors, carpenters and other craftsmen who frequently move heavy machines and equipment between job sites using trailers. Why use your back or risk getting hurt when you can use a ramp? Think about it!

Easy Rack's aluminum walk ramps come in several sizes and options to meet your material handling needs. The adjustable height wheel option, for example, is ideal for use with longer walk ramps. The height can be adjusted with a simple manual hand crank mechanism. The wheels are 10" x 31⁄2" pneumatic and are strategically located at balance points on ramp allowing for one-person positioning. The minimum ramp lowered height with this walk ramp option is 12".

EasyRack has Cart Options that provides for easy one-person ramp positioning and transportation. Just pull the handle up to rotate and lock wheels and lower the handle to allow for easy ramp movement. Push handle down to unlock and lift wheels so ramp can be used to service lower trailers. Pneumatic wheels are 10" x 31⁄2". Minimum ramp service height is 14" with this option. This accessory option requires easy bolt-on installation.

The open deck design of our walk ramps allows snow, ice and water to fall through ramp providing a positive grip for delivery men, shippers and receivers. The ramps are 100% welded aluminum construction, light-weight and will not rust. Ramps feature a 2" high safety curb on each side. Each unit includes two safety chains to connect ramp to trailer for safety.

We carry hand trucks, standard dollies, and pallet jacks for normal-size pallets and crates. Homemakers call it Handy Wrap, the guys in the shipping department call it Stretch Wrap.

Homemakers call it "Handy Wrap", the guys in the shipping department call it "Stretch Wrap". Either way, this funny little elastic plastic film is one of the most cost effective ways to cover food or bundle small and large packages for shipment. Companies around the world now use stretch wrap to prepare shipments using hand dispensers on a roll or with more automated stretch wrap machines.

Stretch wrap machines are really quite simple by design, but very efficient by nature. Commercial stretch wrap machines are comprised of a vertical fixed stretch wrap dispenser with an adjustable turntable. This simple design allows shippers to quickly and efficiently bundle goods that are best transported on pallets. However, you can certainly bundle loose packages on your stretch wrap machine for medium size shipments too! By changing the length of the stretch wrap rolls to prevent waste, stretch wrap machines can be a flexible and handy investment for any size company that transports good.

Easy Rack carries a wide selection of material handling equipment including stretch wrap machines. These rugged stretch wrap devices have a 4,000 pound load capacity and feature a chain driven turntable for one man operation. Complete with industrial grade sealed cam bearings, these stretch wrap machines rotate slowly, effectively and efficiently.

Semi-Automatic
Bridges the gap between manual and fully automatic stretch wrap systems. Unit is complete with powered carousel and manual stretch film wrap mast.

Counter Balanced System
Film Roll moves easily with the assistance of a weight counterbalance.

Low Profile Design
Standing only 2" tall, our system is easily accessible by fork trucks. Optional ramp available for pallet truck access.

Cost Effective
Efficient film delivery, one man operation, and low maintenance contribute to the systems practicality.

Flexible
This Semi-Automatic system had a 48" diameter heavy duty steel top non skid tread plate. Maximum load size 76" with a maximum wrapped load height 78" and a maximum film roll diameter 11". Detachable film mast for easy storage. Ergonomic foot pedal control and variable speed motor. Variable tension control. Cushion start, cushion stop.

Study after study show security lighting is by far the most important element in any crime prevention program.

Everybody at Easy Rack these days is concerned about home and commercial safety and crime prevention. Just watching the news at 10 is enough to make you never want to leave home again. However, there is something that you can do around your home or business that will make a tremendous impact in deterring criminals and give you, your associates and your customers peace of mind. Lighting! Study after study show security lighting is by far the most important element in any crime prevention program.

While sufficient commercial lighting around a facility deters crime, it is vital that security lighting be calculated carefully as poorly designed security lighting can create glare that criminals are aware of and actively take advantage of it. Every year thousands of burglaries take place in commercial businesses. These unfortunate conditions may have been prevented if the proper outdoor security lighting had been in place. Business owners require a quality retailer of security lighting fixtures in order to achieve desired light levels and a lighting product that is dependable and relatively maintenance free. Easy Rack is more than happy to review your commercial lighting project and make recommendations to illuminate your property.

There are a wide variety of outdoor security lighting fixtures available on the current market, and commercial and industrial businesses should choose the right lighting systems to fit their requirements. Easy Rack carries a wide variety of exterior security lighting products including HID floodlights, metal halide high bay lights, metal halide wall packs, motion detectors, HID or high intensity discharge lighting fixtures, security flood light fixtures, outdoor wall mount light fixtures, post mount light poles & fixtures, wallpack security light fixtures and outdoor canopy light fixtures.

Outdoor Security Lighting Tips

Experts suggest that security lights should be placed high enough above the ground so intruders cannot disable them or take them out of service.

You can prevent unsightly glare by using a variety of glare shields attached to the fixture housing which conceals the bulb.

Aim your lighting fixtures in a downward position whenever possible to help keep our skies dark.

A good rule of thumb for brightness levels is 0.05 watts per square foot.

It is always better to use multiple light fixtures of moderate power instead of a few powerful outdoor floodlights to reduce glare and provide more even illumination.

Make sure the electric meter box is locked or difficult to get to so that the bad guys can't turn off the all your lighting.

Security lighting should not be installed where they can create blinding glare or blind spots to oncoming drivers or pedestrians.

Major Benefits Of Security Lighting:

Security lighting deters burglars, intruders and vandalism reducing insurance costs and lowering anxiety associated with fear.

Increase safety for employees leaving work before or after dark.

HID lights are energy efficient which reduce overhead costs in both reduced maintenance and energy consumption.

Security lighting can be integrated with existing alarm systems through the use of motion detectors and motion lighting fixtures.

Safety bollards are visual markers, that prevent vehicles from hitting pedestrians, buildings and industrial equipment.

Have you ever heard of the term Bollard? Well, a bollard is thick, low post, usually of iron or steel, mounted on a wharf or the like, to which mooring lines from vessels are attached. Over the years bollards have migrated from the wharfs to many segments of the commercial and industrial markets. One of the most common uses of bollards today, among others, is vehicular safety. You know, the little yellow poles you see protecting gas pumps, sidewalks, drive thru windows, building entrances, loading docks, and parking lots. You also see bollards in the commercial lighting industry as pedestrian lights or path lighting.

Safety bollards not only serve as visual markers, they prevent pallet jacks, pushcarts, dollies and vehicles from entering certain areas or from hitting expensive buildings and equipment. Bollards and loading dock bumpers can prevent injuries and eliminate lawsuits from reckless drivers. Easy Rack carries a wide selection of steel pipe safety bollards in sizes from 24” to 48” in height and between 1-3/4” to 5-1/2” diameter. All Easy Rack bollards are double powder coated with a bright safety yellow finish and come with molded rubber caps that are removable on the 4½" and 5½" diameter units should you want to fill with concrete for added durability. Bollard base plates have welded steel construction and include four (4) pre-drilled mounting holes. Easy Rack has mounting kits, anchor bolts and replacement caps available too for your convenience. If you are a building owner or shop manager who is responsible for the safety and well being of your employees and customers, you should serious consider installing safety bollards.

In addition to safety bollards we also carry a wide variety of specialized loading dock equipment including Dockboards & Loading Dock Plates, Dockboards & Loading Dock Ramps, Loading Dock Bumpers, Trailer Stabilizing Jacks, Rolling Ladders, Step Ladders, Telescopic Ladders, Commercial Ladders, stretch wrap machines and even commercial warehouse and industrial lighting fixtures.

Choosing the right commercial ladder for your project is no laughing matter. It may save your life!

Did you not sign up for the newsletter? It plainly says, working on a ladder of any type can be hazardous to your health! Ladders and step ladders on average account for 14 deaths and over 1000 serious injuries to workers each year. Many of these injuries are caused by improper or faulty use of ladders and associated material handling equipment. The best ladder safety, plan and simple, is common sense.

First, know when to use a ladder, then decide how to go about selecting the right sort of ladder for the particular job. Experts are convinced that mishandling of ladders at work can be partly explained by the way they are used in the home. As with all work equipment, users need sufficient information and training to be able to use ladders and stepladders safely. It it looks dangerous, it probably is.

When considering whether it could be appropriate to use a ladder or step-ladder, you need to consider the following factors:

Only use a ladder or stepladder in any one position for a maximum of 30 minutes to prevent fatigue or dizziness.
Never use commercial wheel risers to elevate your vehicle or work on a ladder that is not on solid ground. This mean do not put ladders on vehicles to extend your reach. That is the easiest way to get yourself hurt.

Know the weight limitations of your ladder and under no circumstances should you overload a step ladder or ladder from your body weight plus anything they are taking up the ladder.

Never lean over and overreach from the ladder. It is best to keep your belt buckle inside the stiles and both feet on the same rung throughout work being done. Practice safety!

When working on commercial ladders or household stepladders, you should avoid work that imposes a side loading, such as side-on drilling through solid materials (e.g. bricks or concrete), by having the steps facing the work activity. Where side-on loadings cannot be avoided you should prevent the steps from tipping over, for example by tying the steps to a suitable point.

Only use a commercial grade ladder or telescoping extension ladder on firm ground or spread the load on level ground by using a plywood sheet.

Never work on a ladder that is close to overhead power lines, unless the power company or electrician has made them dead or protected with temporary insulation.

When working by a roadway or near vehicular traffic, always use safety cones or barricades to prevent injury. Practice safety!

Never stand on the top rung of a step ladder that does not have handrails or some other means of preventing falls.

It is advisable to not climb or use ladders in strong or gusting winds.

Buying Safe Ladders from Easy Rack.Com

When buying a new commercial or industrial ladder, think about the worst type of surface conditions you might come across (e.g. smooth, wet floor tiles). Manufacturers should be able to Indicate the types of surfaces their products are intended to be used on when they are unsecured (untied). Only buy the commercial or household ladder that suppliers can confirm will be stable enough to be used unsecured in your worse-case scenario, otherwise you will need to take additional measures to secure.

Easy rack offers a wide variety of Industrial & Commercial ladders including Rolling Ladders, Folding Step Ladders, Industrial Ladders, Telescopic Ladders, loading Dock ladders, Commercial Ladders, Steel Ladders and Warehouse Ladders that are key components to any company's inventory & worker safety. Telescopic step ladders are the coolest thing I have seen since sliced bread!

Are you kidding me? This 12' telescopic step ladder is the coolest thing I have seen since sliced bread! What will they think of next?

Telescopic ladders are the latest rage in consumer friendly tools. Telescopic ladders work just like a collapsing telescope and are easy to store in places where a conventional ladder might not have normally been stored due to space limitations. Easy Rack’s telescopic ladders meet all OSHA and ANSI standards and are small enough to transport inside trucks, cars and vans. Just think, no more ladders stolen out of the back of your truck!

All of our telescopic ladders extend in 12” step increments and come with a extra wide base that offers tremendous stability and support as you use the ladder. The ladder steps are serrated for better traction and have conical feet for maximum slip resistance.

Our telescopic ladders are constructed from lightweight aluminum which make them easy to carry and will not rust. Each ladder step is serrated and has a spring loaded locking pin that automatically engages to secure ladder step height. The release mechanism provides a smooth automatic closing action. Telescopic ladders extend in 12" increments with little to no resistance. Ladder top bumper guards and molded rubber feet protect walls and floors against dings and scratches.

Telescopic ladder systems do not have to be fully extended in order to work safely because each ladder rung locks into place once extended. Experts agree that telescopic ladders are best suited for light to medium work.

Easy Rack offers a variety of industrial-commercial ladders including Steel Rolling Warehouse Ladders, Cross-Over Ladders, Commercial Ladders, Commercial Spring Loaded Ladders, Industrial Ladders, Convertible Hand Truck/Step Ladder, Fold-Up Step Ladders and Foot Stools. Choosing the right ladder for the right project not only saves on time, but also may save lives.

Loading dock lights minimize freight damage while expediting loading and unloading operations.

Commercial loading docks are the hub of the American trucking industry. This is where trucks are loaded and dispatched with a broad spectrum of industrial good and commodity based products. From perishable produce in refrigerated trucks to industrial equipment in a rail car, they all have one common thread. All these facilities want to ensure that employees have a good working environment and that cargo is successfully delivered to the correct recipient. To accomplish these goals, loading docks must have good quality lighting system, a plethora of material handling equipment and most importantly, durable and efficient dock lighting fixtures.

Loading dock lights minimize freight damage while expediting loading and unloading operations. These adjustable commercial lights provide uniform visibility inside trailers or around dock areas. Easy Rack is a major distributor of top quality UL Approved loading dock lights with a variety of light sources and wattage to meet your needs.

Fluorescent Dock Lights
Fluorescent loading dock lighting fixtures offer energy efficiency and provide a nice light source for small to medium sized trucks. Fluorescent lighting fixtures use a 55-watt lamp which is sold separately. The adjustable arm knuckle joint allows vertical and horizontal positioning of the strut arm.

Incandescent Dock Lights
Incandescent loading dock lights offer good color rendering, a low replacement cost and turn on instantly even in cold environments. This is a good choice for areas where power outages occur since the lamp is instantaneous on. This incandescent loading dock light uses a 90-watt PAR38 lamp which is sold separately. The adjustable arm knuckle joint allows vertical and horizontal positioning.

Halogen Incandescent Lights
Halogen loading dock lighting fixtures typically provide more lumens per watt, offer better energy efficiency, have a longer service life and experiences less light depreciation over the lifetime of the lamp. It is supplied with a 500 watt bulb. This loading dock light also turns on instantaneously making it also a good choice to applications where the light it turned on or off with frequency.

High Pressure Sodium Lights
High pressure sodium loading dock lights offer a much higher light output and a very long lamp life over some of the other light sources. High pressure sodium lights produce a yellowish red color which is not as desirable as an incandescent, halogen or incandescent source. High pressure sodium dock lights typically require several minutes to turn on, and even longer if in a cold environment. Units are supplied with a 50 watt bulb.

Cantilever racks offer industry professionals a powerful material-handling tool that requires no external bracing and is easy to install.

Cantilever racks offer construction and industry a powerful material-handling tools that requires no external bracing. A cantilever rack features either single upright or double upright design that allows for storage of oddly shaped materials or supplies with exceptionally long measurements. Easy Rack supplies medium duty and heavy-duty cantilever racks to construction and storage facilities nationwide. We carry used models for contractors on a budget and new cantilever racks for purchasing managers who insist on having the very best up front.

Cantilever racks offer more use of the vertical cube and help reduce the costs of expansion and moving. Their specific value lies in their ability to store items that cannot be stacked or easily organized in crates or shelving. Many furniture warehouses them to accommodate bulky and cumbersome pieces. Industrial facilities use them to store everything from pipe to tubing. Appliance manufacturers use them as well to store refrigerator and freezer units. Cantilever racks can sit back against the wall with arms extended, giving easy access to manual loading or forklift maneuvering and do not a separate aisle or special access point to reach. Easy Rack's sells a wide range of builds and dimensions engineered for different storage needs and load capacities. We carry medium-duty and heavy-duty models in over 30 specific dimensions.

Medium and heavy-duty cantilever racks feature single-sided uprights. All racks offer a great deal of durability because of a powder coat finish that makes them very tough under hard working conditions. Medium-duty units can be hand or forklift loaded, and heavy-duty cantilevers are ideal for heavy materials that require the use of forklifts. Our unique manufacturing process combines welded steel components with unique bolt construction, allowing these units to bear loads of up to 9000 pounds and customize to varying lengths by moving the arms to different levels and securing them in place with a key lock. All arms feature lips that prevent stored materials from falling on the floor or worker's feet.

Single-sided uprights customize easily to a number of individual shelving applications. Double-sided uprights allow for faster manual loading and forklift access. Many facilities use them for temporary storage, placing longer items such as pipe, tubing, bar stock and lumber securely on the uprights and out of the way for workers moving back and forth within the facility. One cantilever rack can store many different types of items because of the adjustable nature of the arms. Easy Rack's cantilevers measure up to 10 feet in height and can bear load capacities of up to 9000 pounds. We sell uprights and arms separately, not in pairs, so customers can choose exactly how many arms they need per unit. We also custom build systems for clients who call in with specific requirements.

Tax codes classify multi-tier mezzanine shelving systems as equipment, not real estate.

Are you running out of room? Are you considering moving your business?

Many companies are facing the same shortages of storage space and are considering the possibility of either relocating or building a new facility. Have you considered the benefits that mezzanine shelving systems offer as a cost-effective and highly efficient alternative to relocating?

Mezzanine system shelving allow for conversion of unused vertical air space into safe, efficient storage areas for a fraction of the cost of the move. Mezzanine shelves also offer a number of direct and indirect economic perks to facilities owners. Mezzanine shelving systems provide an incredible level of safety fully compliant with regulatory codes and offer a high level of adaptability to any number of industrial and warehousing environments.

Just as time is money, space is overhead. Floor space limitations not only limit the amount of equipment and materials owners can house within the facility, but they can also create safety issues such as trip and fall hazards when things become too closely packed together. Owners often immediately consider a move when space becomes limited not only to accommodate inventory and operations, but also to ensure a safe working environment. The cost of moving, however, is enormous for industrial facilities. On the other hand, investing in mezzanine system shelving requires only a fraction of the cost of moving and increases available storage space 100-150 percent on the average. Adding mezzanine shelving to existing floor space eliminates months, and in some cases, years, of waiting for a new building to be finished. By expanding upward, the mezzanine shelving converts the unused vertical airspace above the facility floor into solid, safe, quickly accessible storage areas. Expanded and new facilities will naturally consume more energy to light, heat, and cool. Mezzanine shelving prevents this increased overhead by utilizing existing heat, light, and cooling systems. Operations managers responsible for eliminated cost of operations should especially consider the energy-savings benefits when calculating quarterly and annual operations budgets.

Tax codes classify multi-tier mezzanine shelving systems as equipment, not real estate. As expanding a facility or building a larger plant will obviously place you in a higher property tax bracket, converting vertical space with a mezzanine system minimizes property tax increase and offers depreciation tax breaks associated with equipment. This again further reduces overhead and allows operations to increase profits through lowered expenditures. The versatility offered by these systems offers a variety of options in almost any facility. Mezzanine shelving assemble as easily as standard shelving and provide storage, staging, workspace, and even office space. All steel components of the system, including heavy-duty columns designed for industrial loading capacity, come pre-fabricated from the manufacturer and require no drilling or welding. Owners can choose from a number of stairs, steel or concrete decks, and handrails to ensure full code compliance for particular geographic areas and specific industries. The mezzanine railing system combines the guidance of a handrail with the protective barrier of a wire partition. It fully complies with all OSHA and BOCA safety regulations and offers the very best protection against slip and fall hazards. Prevention of accidents further reduces cost of liability or workman's compensation and insurance premium hikes resulting from mishaps.

Because of the way mezzanine systems assemble, they offer a flexibility that allows for change in size and location as your industry evolves and your facility adapts in response. They can be moved or enlarged at will, allowing for multiple upgrades and minimizing any need for replacement. As customized and highly reliable pieces of equipment, we can design them specifically for you current needs and any future changes you foresee. Call us today and let us help you design the very best safe, reliable, and cost-effective shelving system for you.
