Welding Hose Reels

Welding hoses and cables have to be managed with a special type of hose reel. Welding hose reels and cable reels that are designed specifically to safeguard your investment in expensive hoses and cable by buffering against wear and ensuring performance for the duration of hose and cable life span. Most heavy duty hose reel models offer multiple sized units made for different environments and unique characteristics for support, hose management, retraction, safety, and versatility in application.

Motor-Driven Welding Hose Reels
Motorized reels can be ordered in either heavy duty models or lightweight models. The heavy duty electric driven hose reels feature a direct bevel gear drive, low profile outlet riser, open drum slot, and dual brass swivel inlets that will ensure smooth and steady hands free retrieval of your welding hose. The lightweight unit is intended to be a compact and versatile, smaller version of the heavy duty unit. It is build around a “U” shaped frame and all steel construction to provide additional safety and stability.

Both models can also be obtained in manual, hand crank retraction if necessary.

Hand Crank Welding Hose Reels
Hand crank reels are built around the same general design as the heavy duty welding hose reel and are used in industrial environments where external power may not yet be available, such as new construction sites and off site outdoor locations.

Spring Driven Welding Hose Reels
When your hands are full, and you cannot use a hand crank reel, spring driven welding hose reels combine the convenience of automatic retrieval with the freedom from external power sources.

These spring driven reels are manufactured to manage bulky twin line welding hose. Two sizes are available. Standard size welding hose reels are compact and engineered for operations in crowded facilities. Larger units are built for more spacious facilities where extra capacity is needed for exceptionally long lengths of welding hose. This larger model features a proprietary dual axle support system that keeps the unit stable during retraction use and minimizes vibration during use.

Welding Hose Reels with Spring Driven Safety Retraction
In some facilities, static buildup can be hazardous due to the combustibility of nearby fuel, chemicals, or fumes in the air. If you are working in such an environment, it is necessary to use hose reels that are built to eliminate static buildup. This is done using a special spring-driven retraction mechanism that has been modified to turn the hub at only 20% the normal rate of speed than standard model reels, and to end the retraction cycle gently without slamming the last bit of hose onto the reel.

These industrial welding hose reels, like many other spring driven units, also feature super hub, dual axle support to maintain stability and rigidity while in use. Both compact and standard sized reels are available.

Welding Cable Reels
Welding cable is costly, and not something you want to replace because of careless handling or accidents. Protect your investment with 25, 35, or 50 foot self-retracting welding cable reel. These units are intended to help maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment at all times and feature internal components set inside the drum to allow for a narrower, compact coil on the reel. They can also accommodate an optional stacking bracket to create a lead/ground combination when required and are available in hand crank or motorized retraction.

Many of these reels can be further customized with any number of accessories. Call an Easy Rack specialist now to see what options are available for metal hose reels.

Heavy Duty Hose Reels

Industrial applications driven by heavy machinery often require the use of heavy power cords, welding cords, or high pressure air/water hoses to operate the equipment. Exceptionally long and bulky hoses can be very problematic if they are not handled correctly. They can present a trip hazard when run across the ground where workers are walking, and they can be very cumbersome and difficult to move around by hand.

Heavy Duty Hose Reels are made for the safe distribution and retrieval of exceptionally long, wide-diameter hoses, power cords, and welding cords. They features additional frame supports to maintain stability and minimize vibrations, and they also feature special drum designs that ensure hoses are guided off the reel and back onto the reel without tangling. Many heavy duty hose reels are spring-driven, retractable reels; others are motor driven or hand crank reels. Some are designed specifically to eliminate electrostatic buildup in volatile atmospheres where sparks can cause explosions.

Anything from air hoses, water hoses, electrical power cords, and welding cords can be wound and retracted using Easy Rack heavy duty hose reels. Heavy duty hose reels are made to be used in all applications under all pressures-- up to 10,000 P.S.I.

Heavy Duty and Super Heavy Duty Safety Hose Reels
In chemical plants, refineries, and other combustible refineries, the patented slow retrieval mechanisms of these spring-driven, heavy-duty reels prevent static buildup that could spark an explosion. The controlled rate of retrieval is 80% slower than that of a conventional hose reel and requires no motor or external power source. Components and hoses also last longer with this heavy duty reel because it does not slam the hose on to the hub at the end of retrieval.

Dual High Capacity Hose Reel
These heavy duty high pressure hose reels are designed for large hose diameters with high volume delivery in low and medium pressures. Heavy duty steel cross supports on all four corners give the reel extra strength and rigidity.

Super Hub, Heavy Duty Hose Reel
The larger chassis and frames on these reels allow for hoses of lengths and larger diameters. Dual axles keep the unit stable and minimize vibration during use.

Compact Heavy Duty Hose Reel
Believe it or not, we actually have a compact heavy duty hose reel that is highly portable and can be installed almost anywhere. These units are made for tubing and air/water pressure hoses and are extremely light weight and easy to install.

Large Capacity Welding Reels
You can obtain either hand crank welding hose reels or motor driven reels through Easy Rack. Both model types are intended for us with exceptionally large diameter hoses of long length. Motorized heavy duty reels are especially useful for managing long, twin line welding hoses. They feature dual brass swivel inlets on either side of the reel to guide the hose during distribution and retrieval and an open drum slot design with direct bevel gear drive.

Compact Heavy Duty Welding Reels
These reels are compact and light weight. They can be used in a variety of facilities and environments. In spite of their small size, they are extremely sturdy because of their steel construction and “U” shaped form.

High Pressure Hose Reels

Many industrial cutting operations and manufacturing tools depend on pressurized water and air for power. To maintain a consistency in air or water pressure, it is necessary to keep hoses in optimal condition. Dragging hoses over the ground, around corners, and around obstructions is never recommended. Hoses can become kinked and cause a drop in pressure, effecting safety and performance. They can also be damaged very easily when they are drug behind workers like this, and this only complicates a budget with needless replacement costs and downturns in process flow. High pressure hose reels are a much better way to transport and operate air and water high pressure hoses.

High pressure air hose reels will preserve the longevity of hoses and will make it easier for workers to do their jobs. Machinery that relies upon compressed air or water will also perform much better when a consistent pressure is maintained throughout the operation. Safety in your facility will also improve, because high pressure hose reels are engineered to systematically and efficiently retrieve hoses after use, so workers to do not have to retrace their steps and laboriously wind up the hose by hand after completing a task.

Because of the diversity of high pressure hoses that are used in industry, the type of hose reel you choose depends on a number of very key factors that you should pay very close attention to. Without the proper “fit,” the reel will not effectively store, transport, or retrieve the hose, and damage or injury could result.

When choosing a reel, the size, length, and type of hose weight heavily upon your selection. Hose retraction method and the mounting position of your high or low pressure hose reel also play an important rule. As a general rule, you always want to select a high pressure hose reel with a little more space than you require. This makes retrieval faster and easier, and the extra disc space actually acts as a protective shield on either side of the hose.

The type of retraction method used by your high pressure hose reel is also a very important consideration. If your workers already have their hands full operating machinery or material handling tools, a motor driven or spring driven hose reel is preferable. Spring driven reels are ideal for facilities with large power bills and high overhead. Spring driven reels can automatically rewind high and low pressure hoses without a power source. The operator can guide the hose smoothly onto the reel with one hand. Motor driven reels use an AC, DC, Air, or Hydraulic power source and again require only one hand to guide retraction. When a person has both hands available, and when working in an area without a convenient power source, a hand crank air hose reel works just as well, provided there is an operator with two free hands to crank the reel and guide the hose back onto the reel.

Most factories mount their air hose reels horizontally, on the floor. In fact, most material handling companies ship air hose reels pre-configured for floor mounting. However, the same configuration can be used to mount the reel on the ceiling, and vertical wall-truck mounts can also be ordered from Easy Rack for special operations or uniquely designed facilities.

Easy Rack will also further customize your high or low pressure reel to meet your exact requirements. Once you select your reel type, we can also provide you with different add-on features such as roller brackets, special mounting brackets, carry handles or a cart for portability.
