High Pressure Hose Reels

Many industrial cutting operations and manufacturing tools depend on pressurized water and air for power. To maintain a consistency in air or water pressure, it is necessary to keep hoses in optimal condition. Dragging hoses over the ground, around corners, and around obstructions is never recommended. Hoses can become kinked and cause a drop in pressure, effecting safety and performance. They can also be damaged very easily when they are drug behind workers like this, and this only complicates a budget with needless replacement costs and downturns in process flow. High pressure hose reels are a much better way to transport and operate air and water high pressure hoses.

High pressure air hose reels will preserve the longevity of hoses and will make it easier for workers to do their jobs. Machinery that relies upon compressed air or water will also perform much better when a consistent pressure is maintained throughout the operation. Safety in your facility will also improve, because high pressure hose reels are engineered to systematically and efficiently retrieve hoses after use, so workers to do not have to retrace their steps and laboriously wind up the hose by hand after completing a task.

Because of the diversity of high pressure hoses that are used in industry, the type of hose reel you choose depends on a number of very key factors that you should pay very close attention to. Without the proper “fit,” the reel will not effectively store, transport, or retrieve the hose, and damage or injury could result.

When choosing a reel, the size, length, and type of hose weight heavily upon your selection. Hose retraction method and the mounting position of your high or low pressure hose reel also play an important rule. As a general rule, you always want to select a high pressure hose reel with a little more space than you require. This makes retrieval faster and easier, and the extra disc space actually acts as a protective shield on either side of the hose.

The type of retraction method used by your high pressure hose reel is also a very important consideration. If your workers already have their hands full operating machinery or material handling tools, a motor driven or spring driven hose reel is preferable. Spring driven reels are ideal for facilities with large power bills and high overhead. Spring driven reels can automatically rewind high and low pressure hoses without a power source. The operator can guide the hose smoothly onto the reel with one hand. Motor driven reels use an AC, DC, Air, or Hydraulic power source and again require only one hand to guide retraction. When a person has both hands available, and when working in an area without a convenient power source, a hand crank air hose reel works just as well, provided there is an operator with two free hands to crank the reel and guide the hose back onto the reel.

Most factories mount their air hose reels horizontally, on the floor. In fact, most material handling companies ship air hose reels pre-configured for floor mounting. However, the same configuration can be used to mount the reel on the ceiling, and vertical wall-truck mounts can also be ordered from Easy Rack for special operations or uniquely designed facilities.

Air, Water, & Electric Hose Reels

Industrial machinery often relies upon pressurized water or air delivered through high pressure air hoses and water hoses. Reels made to store, extend, and retract air hoses and water hoses are essential tools to safe and efficient operations. Without them, hoses would have to be drug over floor space, around corners, and over obstructions. This creates trip hazards to workers passing through the area, and it deteriorates the condition of the hose and reduces its longevity. High pressure hose reels, water hose reels, and electric hose reels keep hoses safely and compactly stored and have proven the best means of distributing hoses and retracting them.

All water hose reels, air hose reels, and electric reels ship standard floor/ceiling mount with the option to side mount. They are made of solid steel construction with a proprietary CPC powder coat finish and can be used either indoors or outdoors regardless of weather conditions. There are four major types of industrial and commercial hose reels available through Easy Rack. These types are determined by the power source used to retract cord or hose and by the types of cord and hoses these reels are intended in use and store in non use.

Motor driven water hose reels
These water hose reels can handle pressures of up to 10,000 PSI and can be as long as 1.400 feet. Motor driven water hose reels are made for hose I.D. ranging from 3/8” to 2”. The motors themselves can be electric, air, or hydraulic power. The low profile outlet riser and open drum slot design makes hose distribution fast and safe. You can obtain these water hose reels with roller guide assemblies, motor switches, and speed controllers. Talk to an Easy Rack specialist about which customization options will work best for you.

Electric Cord and Cable Reels
Electric hose reels are most often used in heavy duty applications for welding and grounding cable and electrical cord distribution. Unit diameters are tailor made for specific wire gauges of 10,12, and 16. Electric cord reels will hold hoses up to 100 feet in length. They feature detachable roller guides and adjustable rubber cord stops to prevent too much cord from being distributed or retracted beyond desired lengths. A multi-position locking racket holds the cord in place, and an adjustable guide arm helps evenly guide cord and wire back onto the reel while it is being retrieved.

Easy Rack will customize your electric reel with any number of electrical accessories. Talk to a specialist about your requirements and see what options are available to you.

Spring Driven Hose Reels
Spring driven air hose reels are usually used with hoses made to handle up to 5,000 PSI in pressure. They can hold up to 125 fee of hose and can be ordered in either steel or aluminum construction. They feature detachable roller guides and an adjustable rubber hose stop. A lubricated, factory-matched, cartridge-style spring motor retracts the reel on command without the need of an external power source. An adjustable guide arm on the reel keeps the air hose evenly distributed over its interior surface.

Hand Crank and Portable Hose Reels
These are large capacity industrial grade air hose reels and water hose reels are made to hold up to 700 feet of hose. They are rated at 10,000 PSI and feature a low profile outlet riser and open drum slot design. You can choose a direct hand crank for retraction/retrieval, or you can order your reel with a bevel gear hand crank for easier and more ergonomic operation. Hand crank air hose reels and water hose reels prevent backlash by means of adjustable tension brakes that slow the reel as more pressure pulls on the hose while it is being extended.

Garden Hose Reels

Garden Hose reels are an essential tool for landscape contractors and maintenance personnel. In almost every corporate landscape there is some type of flora, fauna, foliage, greenery, or flower bed that needs to be watered on a daily basis. Trying to wrestle with a large, cumbersome hose can be an ergonomic strain to workers and slow down an operation if the hose becomes tangles, kinked, bent, or tied in mysterious knots that somehow always seem to tie themselves in hoses. Garden hose reels eliminate the strain, headache, and lost time associated with all these mini-dramas. They make it simple, quick, safe, and better for equipment; and they last for many years under the harshest outdoor conditions.

Easy Rack garden hose reels provide a lightweight, compact, and portable storage tool for exceptionally long garden hoses. This frees a property from trip hazards that result from large masses of garden hose strewn throughout the grass and wrapped around tree trunks, hedges, and outdoor structures. Garden hose reels also eliminate kinks in the hose that can cut off the flow of water, and they allow for easy, ergonomic maneuverability throughout the property. It is much easier to uncoil a garden hose from a reel than it is to untangle a kinked and twisted knot, and with a 4,000PSI rating, high pressure applications for watering entire lawns or elaborate gardens are safe and efficient. The garden hose reel also comes with a ¾” female fitting and male garden adapter, along with a 4’ inlet hose attached to the reel.

The high-quality, two piece 1 ¼” steel tube frame structure provides a solid reel for storing and moving your garden hose. Two solid 8” rubber tires make it easy to transport the unit anywhere in the front yard, back yard, or commercial atrium's. In order to prevent the garden hose reel from slipping forward, two rubber front feet hold the unit in place. When you are finished using the unit, you can remove the handle and store it in a secure, compact location until then next time it is needed. For easy rewinding, the garden hose reel also features direct hand crank rewind design so you don’t have to manually roll the hose back onto the reel by hand. An adjustable friction break allows you to stop the unit and lock the drum in place when necessary.

Larger garden hose reels also feature hose control bar that prevents the hose from slipping off the discs. This is often used by commercial landscaping crews who have multiple flower beds and garden areas to water on a very large property. The bases of these larger units have holes for temporary mounting or permanent installation of the reel.

Both the smaller garden hose reel and the larger garden hose reel are manufactured with professional grade heavy duty steel construction. To further protect each unit from the extremes of heat, cold, wind, and rain, a proprietary power coating process is then applied to make the unit more durable and reliable after a long period of use outside. Easy Rack garden hose reels also feature rolled edges and ribbed discs that provide additional strength and safety. Our garden hose reels are made exclusively throughout the United States and sold throughout the world. Easy Rack drop ships to any location in the United States and backs up each purchase with a 2-year warranty.
